That’s our current plan as well. ETA: our car seat is one that can go without a base / works with a seatbelt

Im not sure if you know about the rental website you can literally rent a carseat just to leave the hospital and return it after we didnt do that but i know some people that did because theres a nuna carseat that is completely baseless does not need those heavy bases for install

All car seats should have installation instructions for both with and without the base so all you need to do is follow the seatbelt instructions and it’s usually pretty simple. Look up the instructions beforehand. We rented a car for the occasion cuz I didn’t wanna stress with an Uber driver lol
