What’s up with these vague “online businesses” that keep being advertised to me?

It feels like I’m constantly being bombarded by ads on social media, specifically Instagram, about starting an “online business” just by sending a DM! Without needing any experience or even knowing where to start. They all use phrases like: "achieve financial freedom," "leave your 9-5," "learn how I made this amount per month," or "live the life you’ve always dreamed of”..etc. The ads are always coming from accounts with women showing off a specific lifestyle. I’ve been trying to ignore this for a while, but it seems to be getting more aggressive lately.

i responded to one on facebook and it was basically reselling this £5,000 water machine..which you had to purchase for yourself, safe to say i cancelled and got my £77 deposit back😂

Scams basically preying on desperate people

@Emily You actually paid 😮 I’m glad you got your money back!

@Izzy the only reason i did was because it was refundable, if it wasn’t i wouldn’t have bothered 😂the person i spoke to seemed really lovely and just genuinely a normal person however it was just too risky and sounded too good to be true
