What!? Why do some women mom shame like this wow. I don’t count by weeks sorry I’m not mathing lol if my baby is 6 month she six months!! My toddler is almost 3 and I say she’s almost 3 because I’m also not going to be counting the months anymore. There is not correct way…people have no lives to be trying to “correct” you
I personally did weeks until 1 month (which is already weird since 4 weeks does not equal 1 month 😂) and then went to months. My daughter is 17 months now and I'm still using months until she is 2 because there is a big difference between a 12 month old an an 18 month old, even though both are 1 year. But honestly, do what works for you! The people that care, don't matter and the people that matter won't care ❤️
I did weeks right up until about 3 months old and then it’s been months until 2nd birthday and after that it’s years just because how big of a difference 13 months and 20 month is in development.
I did weeks until we hit 1 month. My daughter's birthday is on the 28th, so I would count another month when we reached the 28th.
Haha yeah. I keep track of both but only celebrate the month milestones. My baby is 24 weeks but only 5.5 months old. I get it. He was born August 14, so February 14 he’ll be six months (or like 26 weeks). You’d think 24 weeks is 6 months but it’s not lol.
Typically you count months as the same day, e.g. baby born on 4/1 is one month on 4/2, two months on 4/3, etc Weeks are useful for development, because they are absolute. So a baby born in Jan who is 2mo is technically younger than a baby born July because Feb only has 28 days.
For example if your baby was born today... they would be 1 month on 30th Feb, 2 months on 30th March and so on... I go by the same date of every month its easiest x
After my baby turned 3 months I stopped using weeks and just went by the date my baby was born each month to say how old she is.
I did it by weeks until 2 months.
You do weeks on the day baby was born. Like my baby was born on a Thursday so today she’s 11 weeks. But, she was born in the 14th and that’s on a Friday. Do on the 13th she’ll be 13 weeks and then the next day on the 14 she’ll be 3 months. Not all months have 4 weeks so goi g strictly by weeks won’t be accurate for how many months. Your dr should go by months. Sony St. wouldn’t see my baby before the 14th for her 2 month appointment. I hope that makes sense.
I did weeks up until 12 weeks and now I do months (he's 7 months) So my boy was 23 weeks before he turned 5 months so its months via the date the baby was actually born
Hold up mumma. How did you count 6 months? Because yes, there is a right and wrong way. So many people get confused because there isn't exactly 4 weeks every month. Many people count 1 month and 4 weeks the same, this isn't correct. 24 weeks isn't 6 months. 6 months is 26.0715 weeks. Which would explain the other mums trying to educate you. Months is counted by example 30th. Every 30th of the month would be 1 month more). Where as weeks is counted by the day they were born, for my girl, she's another week old every Sunday.
I do months, so let’s say, he was born on the 11/09/24. So 11th of every month he’s a month old. I realised that not all months has 4weeks and that could be a it confusing. Just do what best for you, after all their birthdays will always be the date they were born so don’t get confused.
Every month, on the day of his birth, is a mo. He was born April 23rd, so May 23rd was 1mo. AND SECOND!!!!!! They do not need to be attacking you because "it's not proper counting." Look, I'm already sleep deprived, I'm not making it worse by focusing on counting the weeks when I need to be focusing on making sure everyone has eaten. 😵💫🥴🥴

4 weeks =/= 1 month
Oh wow ok! So much info! lol thank you mamas for explaining and helping me feel better. I count the weeks because I use “the bump” app that tells me in weeks lol I too do not math but the app confuses me by saying 24 weeks is 6 months as far as watching for milestones. It’s also easier because my guy was born July 31st and there is not a 31st every month. I know it’s only 1 day difference but like @Francine said I’m already overwhelmed trying to just make sure everyone has eaten and is clean lol that’s why I use the app. I think I’ll change how I count now though to make things easier for family and his dad to remember. 30th/31st of every month works.
@Usinger I think this is similar to how I was doing it.
First of all, I’m so sorry you had to experience that There is no correct way, as a matter of fact, I actually kind of find it annoying when moms say ‘my kid is 105 weeks old.’ Ain’t nobody got time for that! For me, I stopped counting weeks after my kids turned one month old. It’s just easier to grasp when you count in months and after they’re a year old then you continue with the years. A good way to also do it is think about their clothing. If you wanna do weeks until they’re three months old, that can work and then start with months at three months… as I’m reading my own comment I’m thinking how ridiculous this all sounds. 😂 just use what’s easier for you. A pediatrician might use weeks and months, but that’s only for collecting data specifics
