@Courtney why do you love it. I know a lot of people burn out but what makes you stand out obviously you're a natural otherwise you wouldn't burn out and you're not lol
I definitely have had burnout in the past, especially before I had my little boy. I was pulling 7am-6pm shifts at the nursery I’m at now leading up to being pregnant and then right up until I went on mat leave and that KILLED me…but it was also my choice to stay so much on shift 😅As a nanny, I would do a mix of live in and live out. One couple I was a live out for their 2.5 year old but they then had a newborn 5 months in and so I became live in every weekday for the next 3 months. I would do 5 days a week and would have the newborn 10pm-6am and then 8am-6pm I’d have their older one. That was rough as I was basically parenting at that point but again; more about hours than my job. I’m HUGE on teaching and I really enjoy what I do so it’s never really like working as such. The paperwork can sometimes be a drag but seeing the kids reach different milestones & celebrating everything about them, their family, their home, their development etc is just beyond rewarding. Xx
I started as an apprentice 12 years ago when I had no experience, other than looking after my brothers (I’m one of the eldest out of 6 kids) and so went from there. I’ve since done so many amazing things, Doula, Nanny, nursery work etc. I led the baby room at my current nursery before going on mat leave and I now lead the preschool room (doing 3 days a week) and am also part of the management team too so have really worked my way up. My job is relatively easygoing as long as there’s passion, compassion, empathy and respect. I am enthusiastic at work and that just makes all the difference, esp with parents. There’s obvs hard parts and tough conversations with both staff and parents but it’s like that in any job. I couldn’t imagine not doing childcare but also couldn’t imagine being anywhere but where I work now xx
Childcare. Over a decade now and could never do anything else. Taught all ages 0-5 and honestly best job ever. 💛💛💛
