Best company to fly with to Greece

Looking at going to Greece in June and my little one will have just turned 1. I looked at booking with tui but they only allow 1 free baby item and with taking a travel cot, pram and car seat I don’t want to have to pay for another 2 items and from what I’ve seen on here a lot of airlines allow 2 free items? Any advice welcome as first time travelling with baby! ☺️

Aegean, way better than BA for flying to Greece. I think you can check in 2 and then leave your pram at the boarding gate.

You could take 2 items and a cabin approved stroller? But you’d have to sacrifice a piece of hand luggage if you did that

I’m going with tui to Greece in June and can take two pieces of baby luggage? It says car seat and pushchair on the website. But it doesn’t matter if you swap out a car seat or a travel cot. No airline will let you take all three I believe for free. If you get a bag for your car seat your travel cot may fit into the same bag and you can count it as one piece of oversized luggage. We flew Ryanair to Spain last September and took car seat, travel cot & puschair and paid something like £30 for both ways for the extra luggage

@Shantaye that’s so strange because I rang them and they said on the phone only one is free and I’d have to pay for the others. They also won’t let a pram on the plane even if it is cabin approved so I’d be paying for 2 extra items. I don’t mind paying for one extra but don’t really want to pay for an extra 2 if other companies will let you take them and then a cabin approved pram instead of hand luggage. With packing the travel cot into the pram bag how does this work because at check in won’t they see that I have it as it won’t be packed yet? X

@Megan yes this is what I was thinking of doing. But just want to find an airline that will allow this x

@Sarah thank you! Do you know if you leave the pram then you’d have to pay for it as extra? x

@Evie Mai id maybe speak to someone else as there online policy states it is free for two items and you can take the pushchair on board as long as it is cabin approved. But some airlines may still put the pushchair in the hold when you board. Not a big deal if they do, just be prepared. Also when I went to check in my luggage when I flew with Ryanair, you take it to oversized baggage they may have scanned my boarding pass, but they didn’t care what was in each bag! We loaded ours up with nappies/ wipes/ baby items etc.

@Shantaye I’ve messaged you hope that’s okay x

@Evie Mai a cabin approved stroller is in place of hand luggage so won’t be out of your baby items … Sometimes they don’t let them on the flight tho but by that point your other items will be checked in anyway x

TUI allow 2 pieces of baby equipment to check in and then 10kg hold luggage. You can take a cabin stroller as hand luggage as long as it is in replacement of an item of your hand luggage and not in addition too. That way you’d be able to check in a car seat and a travel cot. The customer service agents genuinely don’t have a clue when it comes to stuff like this. I work for TUI x

We did a package with EasyJet.

Only ever fly with easyJet. I fly to Greece about 4 times a year x

We flew with Wizz to Egypt and they only allow 1 bulky/baby item, so we used that for her buggy and I got a travel cot that folded down enough to fit in our suitcase (graco travelite) which worked out perfectly. It took up about ⅓ of our suitcase and we use Boots C&C for nappies, wipes, snacks and toiletries so we didn't have to take up space in our luggage for that. We didn't bring a car seat though, but something to consider.

@Hannah amazing thank you so much for the help! So if I took the travel pram instead of the main hand luggage I could still take her change bag as the one personal bag on board? x

@Evie Mai You get one bigger item and one personal item. So it could be a cabin suitcase and a handbag. In this case you can use the bigger item for the stroller and the personal item for the changing bag x
