Can you afford to travel without insurance, knowing a health related emergency could occur, and pay out of pocket for your medical bills? If so, go for it! We personally like Devon and Cornwall. The Lake District is beautiful, lots of AONB to choose from. Depends what you’d like to get out of a staycation, if you’re more outdoorsy and adventurous, if you’d prefer a city break, etc.
@Amy seizure vary sometimes 20 a week grand mal other times 0 in a week. I think because of the risk I’ll stay holidaying in the uk thanks x
@Chloe$2k / £1.6k to treat a seizure I think I like it here very much 🤣 I would love the places you said x
Can you go on a ferry? If so, check out the Channel Islands, they're beautiful
Would recommend Devon as well! Slight bias as I grew up there. Dawlish and Dawlish Warren are lovely and there's some holiday parks that have accessible chalets if you need it
If it were me I would do everything I could to go. I don’t think I could live without traveling. But it’s up to you because you know your body, your limits, and your priorities in life. I’m sure there would be risks, but as long as you have a plan to manage it, it could work.
Personally no, the costs of medical care in some countries would bankrupt me and even need government help to repatriate. Have you looked at the lakes in summer?
@Chloe I had 4 seizures half way through the weekly shop 😭 so I don’t think it’s going to happen x
@Sarah I haven’t but I’ll check them out thank you I would really like a log cabin x
@Sophie is there any places with log cabins at Devon ? X
I'd check hoseasons as I'm sure there is some x
There’s tons of cool glamping sites in the lakes. Like log cabins, yurts, really funky caravans and treehouses with hot tubs and beautiful views.
@Sarah thanks x
https://www.comparethemarket.com/travel-insurance/medical-conditions/ Idk how much you've looked in to insurance but for many conditions you can get specialist insurance policies. They will cost more than standard obviously but if you really want to travel overseas it's worth looking in to. Plenty of fab places in the UK too, I'd recommend insurance for those too though.

@Rachel to be honest Rachel I am 27 and have left the town I live in to go to our usual holiday destination and that’s it I don’t even visit the next town over 🤣 but abroad just look nice places to visit x
I recommend having a look at the unique homes on Airbnb (you can filter to UK) if you fancy accommodation that's a bit more special. The lake district is always good, we had a great stay in Northumberland, lots of beautiful places in Wales, Scotland, etc etc. There are pros to going abroad but cons as well so it's all about whether it's worth the potential extra stress/expense for you!
@Rachel thank you I’ll check that out the link you sent before said they couldn’t find cover x
I definitely wouldn’t go abroad without insurance. Have you looked at the Lake District? It’s beautiful, loads to do, nice lunch and dinner places… depending where you are it is a bit far but worth it if you can get there! Also, the Norfolk broads are meant to be lovely!
@Laxmi looking at it currently x
I feel this is a personal decision. Only you know how your physical health conditions affect you and if you’d be able to manage being abroad. Do you get frequent flare up’s of the FND, how often do you have a seizure etc? If you have strategies in place to manage your health, and wouldn’t mind paying for healthcare if needed, then I would definitely go. I would also check if you can get the GHIC https://www.nhs.uk/using-the-nhs/healthcare-abroad/apply-for-a-free-uk-global-health-insurance-card-ghic/ Nice places in UK- - Cornwall/Devon - New Forest - York - Edinburgh - Bath Really depends on what you want to do!
