Summer staycation

So I want to book a few nights away this summer, just in the UK as don’t feel ready to tackle abroad with a baby. But I don’t know where to go/what sort of break to go for, with what will then be a 20 month old. Last year we got a nice air bnb by the coast but I found it really hard work! Days where we planned lots I found the heat stressful - constantly trying to keep the baby in the shade and cool plus it was too much time in the car. But days where we planned less I found it so hard trying to entertain the baby for hours at the accommodation without the full range of usual things we do at home. I know a break away with a young child is never going to be a proper break but I need it to be a little more relaxing than last year!! Any suggestions?

I know its not what you asked but I found going abroad easier as you’re guaranteed good weather and its set up with aircon etc and the pool. We were so pleasantly surprised last year. Now of course this year they are a lot more mobile lol. You could try and family friendly staycation at a hotel instead or centre parcs type place?

We like a caravan park on the coast. They usually have soft play, swimming and then the beach.

@Jaanki do you find them insanely busy? I came across a place on air bnb that was in one of these parks and the reviews said about hour long queues for the pool in school holidays. We have to go in school holidays unfortunately.

@CeeCee it’s the travel that I’m scared of. He doesn’t sit still for a second so can’t imagine hours on a plane!

Have you even been to haven? Our friends go every year with their kids and we finally got to take our girly last year and she was 10 months, we went swimming, did some crafts, a walk, we were never in our accommodation. Literally in it to shower and sleep. There’s shows on at night for the bigger kids if you have any. Cheap as chips too. We went to hafn y mor. We got home from the weekend booked for this year straight away and she’ll be 22 months when we go x

We haven't found them busy but we do tend to go on the first week of the summer holidays or in half terms as we are also having to go during the holidays. We loved Haven, park dean is fine. You book the swimming sessions, our kids eat early so we tend to do soft play at everyone else's breakfast time or dinner time. Then for days out we play on the beach, mooch around places we haven't been.
