just moved and transferring providers 😓

i just moved to Massachusetts almost 3 weeks ago and i’m having a hard time finding something similar to what i had in Portland. i was with kaiser and i had an amazing midwife and the hospital was amazing, all of the doctors were great and they were with us every step of the way. now that i’m living in Massachusetts where they don’t have kaiser idk what to look for. i’m 28 weeks pregnant and currently on Mass Health and i don’t know where to get the best care. i feel so stressed and overwhelmed because the one place i found accepting my insurance is booked out until March. i’m unable to apply for any other insurance since i’m unemployed and my fiancé is still under his parents until he turns 26. i just hate that i have to do this so late in my term and i don’t want to go somewhere that doesn’t treat me well or give me the care i’m looking for..

Hi! Where in MA are you and how far are you able to drive for care?

It’s very hard to find that kind of care here without paying out of pocket. I just found an office with midwives I connected with and I’m on my third pregnancy. I am wishing you all the luck. I wish I could help more but we don’t live near each other 🤍🤍🤍🤍

Look at CHA! They have different offices but the birth center is at their hospital in Cambridge, they have Midwives and Doulas, they are awesome. I had 2 surgeries at that hospital and both went great, that when I found out I was pregnant I didn’t want to switch hospitals even when I move like a bit more than an hour away. And I’m having the best experience ever. Their team is amazing. I hope that works for you and they can take you! Good luck!

@Bri im in Millville, and maybe 30-45 minutes

@Viviana thank you for the suggestion! i’ll look into it 🩷

If you want to be that close I'd look in Worcester, probably at UMass Memorial. However, if you're looking for more midwife-focused care you'll probably have to go to further. Boston area has the CHA birthing center like Viviana mentioned and also Mount Auburn Hospital has a birthing center attached to the hospital. There's also Seven Sisters in Florence (western MA) which is like 1.5 hours away from Millville. Also want to mention, Mass Health covers doulas now!

I'd recommend you go to Saint Vincent Hospital. They were just amazing to me. It's in Worcester, and I'm on mass health too, and I went there for everything. Also, my man's momma lives in Millville. Cute little town!!!

Since you’re in Millville are you going to be delivering in Milford?

@Bri thank you thank you thank you!! i’ll look into these, i’ve heard about UMass memorial. i may have to rethink my distance preference because i’m realizing we’re a little far from everything, not what i’m used to lol. i really appreciate your input!

@Alora i’ll check them out! lol my fiancés mom lives here too!

@Joy i’m not sure, we’re still looking for a hospital. what do you think about it??

I’m not familiar with Millville area and where I got my care is far for you, but I’ll share the contact. I delivered at MGH and had my check ups there and everyone was so nice and helpful. MGH Vincent OBGYN 55 Fruit St Yawkey Ste 4F Boston MA 02114 617-724-2229

Try Boston Medical Center. Avoid the Suburb hospitals. The wait might might be abit a bit long but you never know

Newton Wellesley hospital has midwives https://www.nwh.org/classes-and-resources/patient-guides-and-forms/maternity-guide/maternity-guide-whos-who
