Who traveled solo, but child has officially two parents?

I have a question...did you have any issues on the border , like were you asked for a written permission from your partner/ husband, who allowed child to travel just with a mum ?

My mum used to take a letter from my dad providing permission- but we visited a lot of countries and not once was it requested/checked

I travel alone with my girl and go with a copy of the birth certificate and a letter with flight details on from dad. I’ve been asked 3 times now, by British Airways and Qantas. At JFK in NYC I was stopped and they called my husband (that was British Airways staff). It’s just part of UKVI and Border Forces exercise to prevent child abduction so it’s pretty standard to check. Do you have the same surname and nationality as the child too?

I’ve travelled a few times solo (I have a different surname to my son). I took with me his birth certificate and also a letter from dad authorising travel. I believe that is what is required by most airlines. I haven’t been stopped on any of my flights but I will still continue to take this with me just in case

@Sarah he has different surname , and I been flying 4 times by my own but only one time I Been checked. It was Ryanair and wizair. Father not on the birth certificate but I was thinking to put him

Yeah different surnames you should definitely travel with proof of being his mum, I haven’t changed mine yet on my passport so I have a different surname to them and they are dual nationals. If they question you and you have nothing you’ll be denied boarding so better safe than sorry xx
