I had a blighted ovum. Unfortunately, your body is tricked into thinking you’re still pregnant, which would mean the sac continues to grow but there would be no fetal pole identified. You continue to have all the usual pregnancy symptoms. Your body then usually self identifies this between weeks 7-9 and should go through a natural miscarriage (which happened in my case) or if you don’t then you may need a d&c. I would say that’s probably what the doctor was referring to about the sac growing and then stopping as your body thinks your stick pregnant to a certain stage. If you haven’t went through a natural miscarriage, then your likely need further medical care. Hope this helps x
@Sarah went back today they saw fetal pole and yolk sac. I had a gut feeling my dr was wrong. And he didn’t tell me it stopped growing. I went three different times for three different images, and it grew from the first to the second, and then grew even more from the second to the third which he told me in the beginning of our phone call and then at the end of the phone call switched up to it has not grown since the second image which is incorrect since I got a hold of my images this morning!
I can't speak to the Dr's reliability however I have had a blighted ovum miscarriage. It was identified at 6 weeks, but the ovary & sac kept growing until 12 weeks. Unfortunately in that situation, as everything else kept growing as it should, they couldn't officially "call it" until that point, even tho the sac was empty every time. I would request images from your ultrasound, I find it so strange that you haven't been able to see them? If all sounds very suss. Might be worth exploring a second opinion if you can? I hope you get some clarity soon, it's a really rough time and not having confidence in your doctor doesn't help.
