My MIL is being so sus 😐

I'm literally going to explode! This woman has the cheek to tell my partner that I'm not providing her MY child's bank account because she wants to give her a couple of thousand! Excuse me? You never asked me? Also, she's very sceptical about the situation because it's in my account rather than a child's. In an adult high interest account, it yields 7 to 8 percent, and in a child's account, you'll be lucky to find a 3.5% yeild! My child now has a little over £2,000 in savings, and this is only her first yea of life! Every penny from Christmas, birthday, and christening went into this back account. The cheek of this woman accusing me!

That's shocking. We are doing exactly the same with our little girls money. It's not in her name as we get better interest rates and I'll keep moving it around and growing it until she is 18.

That’s unbelievable!

That is annoying. Even with child accounts, they're in parents name until 18 anyway when it automatically changes. What adult accounts yield 7 to 8%? I'm I'm the UK

@Shona that’s also what I’m doing for my Son

@Cara I need the answer to this as well

I don’t know why they do this, my MIL kept asking me for my baby’s passport pic so she could open her own account for her ( which I didn’t even think was possible if not the parent, apparently only one bank in the UK allows grandparents) and I said I have an account for her, here are the details… nothing received. Well, she doesn’t have to put anything in it, it’s just weird. I’m Sorry this is happening to you
