That makes more sense my BMI was over the normal range aswell! Yeah I’ve always said as long as he gets to over 5 lbs I’ll be happy that’s such a good question to ask them as well! Thank you so much! I’m only a week behind you! x
I'm not part of this group, as my second isn't due until June. But I couldn't not comment. My first was born in April 2020 on the 3.8 percentile. I only had my 12 and 20 week scan with him and he was measuring on the 50th at those scans, my fundal height measurements were also perfectly fine. It was a bit of a suprise to have a 6lb 6oz baby, but he was perfectly healthy and soon caught up. I had my 20 week scan for this baby a couple of weeks ago, and was told baby is already measuring small. I'm waiting for a second scan to see what the plan going forward is. Just because baby is on the smaller side doesn't necessarily mean anything will be wrong or any different
My little girl is 3rd centile and has been since our 20 week scan. I’m 31+3 now and the plan is to try to keep her in until 36 but for us it is placental function based so having scans weekly. Really hope everything goes well with your little one ❤️
Our baby has dropped below the 1st centile so if the growth doesn’t slow or stop between now and then I’m being induced at 37 weeks. My son was born at 38 spontaneously and on 9th centile, but his 20 week scan was over the 80th. He was really strong and healthy at birth and has had no issues since, always early with motor skills, hit all the milestones and stuff like that.
Thank you all so much for sharing your stories it really does help me feel less alone! It so much reassuring knowing that these things happen ♥️
Yep, mine is measuring 3rd centile so being monitored. My first was born 2nd centile but soon caught up to around 50th by 3 months. I'm only small myself so not really surprised by this. Have heard of babies measuring small and then coming out big and vice versa... Trust your body knows what to do x
Thank you I will ♥️
There’s a lot of info out there that quite widely discredits the “curve” they expect your baby to follow. Firstly, if it’s your first they basically have no idea what size babies you carry and so your chart can’t take into consideration that maybe your body just makes smaller babies who will still be perfectly healthy. Secondly, every baby follows their own curve. Before and after birth. So them expecting yours to sit nicely on a curve just because that was an average they worked out 20+ years ago is a bit ridiculous. It infuriates me that they continue to base so much of their understanding of whether baby is ok on these stupid curves. It causes far too much stress for mums. Take it with a pinch of salt. As long as baby is active and you can see everything else is ok on a scan, try not to worry. They’re just growing at their own rate ❤️

I know it's easier said than done but try not to worry. Everyone's chart is fitted to them individually so all totally different. I'm on the 4.8th so they've been monitoring me, and the last 3 scans baby has stayed around 4.8. I asked if she stayed growing at the same rate between now (32wks) and 39 was (when they plan on getting me in to have her) what her weight would be and they said just over 6lb. That to me is a weight to worry about 🤷‍♀️ but they're classing her as 'small' as my other babies were all near 8lb and my BMI is over 'normal' range. X
