Migraines

I have had chronic migraines since I was a teenager and while I was pregnant, I didn’t have a single one. Now I’m about to be 4 weeks PP and I am getting one.. it is worse than before because now I have a newborn and can’t care for the migraine how I need to. And I’m exclusively breastfeeding.. are there options? Is it worth calling up my doctor before the 6 week checkup? I’m struggling here so any advice is appreciated

SAME ! I exclusively breast-feeding and pumping mom and suffer with chronic migraines. Best thing that helps putting my feet in hot water as long as I can. Then go to bed and put ice packs on my head and the back of my neck

i get chronic migraines too. peppermint essential oils helps me & so does lavender. i also have this head ice pack that you freeze & then wear like a hat & it works wonders. if the migraine lasts really long or keeps coming back & is really painful def call your doc. feel better! ❤️‍🩹

I’m in the same situation they aren’t the worst I’ve had (around 2019 & 2022 they were completely disabling - I get aural & hemipolegic ones & i couldn’t work or really do anything those yrs) but they are baaad & on top of the all the pp complications I’ve had it’s really rough

Same with me, I got one of them pressure hats for migraines, and I keep it in the fridge and use it, it's the best thing. I got mine from here. https://zanucci.com/products/mycalm-headache-relief-cap

Have you spoken to your GP about preventative medication?

Also a chronic migraine sufferer. Are you under a neurologist? My usual course of treatment is monthly injections but these cannot be taken whilst pregnant or breastfeeding. So I was offered nerve block injections instead. I had these every 3 months in my 1st pregnant and whilst I BF and am doing the same this time round also

@Shelley not yet, I honestly kinda forgot about the migraines because I went 9 months without one 😅

@Emma yes, I was under my old insurance. They had me on Rizatriptan that I would take as soon as I felt one come on

I took sumatriptan as needed for migraines before pregnancy and now take rizatriptan bc sumatriptan started making my whole body hurt after pregnancy lol
