My husband filed his taxes and claimed both of our boys (5 and 2 month old). He got his state taxes yesterday. He also stated that he got the child tax credit too .
My state said they’re giving like 3200 per child 5 and under but for some reason I’m only getting half? Yeah idk what I’m doing wrong either but I’m guessing maybe it caps at a certain income or something
@Autumn same here it says like 2,000 per child under age 17 and I didn’t even work the whole year to have made too much. So either it has to be I made to little or I’m just doing something wrong. 😭😭 This never happened before though so I’m even more confused.
Okay I just looked it up and it said for my state people can get 10-60% of the child tax credit depending on their income so idk maybe your state is similar. For whatever reason my fed return doesn’t say anything about a child credit
If it says zero I’m guessing it’s just an error inputting info cuz you should be getting at least something
You should be getting something. I think you need to go back over what you put in. Unemployed people even get a child tax credit. Have a pro look at it if you’re not sure.
I tried filling with a different place and it said because of my income. & I only made like around $7,000 maybe 8
And that’s just me as head of household with 2 kids
It doesn’t sound like you made enough to get it.
What state are you in?
@Lys ❤️🔥 Illinois
Yeah, that’s very odd. I got mine but I had made $17000 for the year. (Out often tho) 7000 might have been too low. (I’m in Texas)
That’s wild. Have someone you trust file your kids so you can get that money.
My kids are 6&4 and all I can think of is maybe I didn’t work enough? Idk
