Car seats!

Hi everyone! Looking at different car seats (it’s a minefield!) looking at either the Ickle Bubba Rotator 360° 0-12 Years or the Joie i-Spin Multiway Car Seat 0-7 years. Has anyone got either of these and if so what’s your opinion on them? Thank you!

There is a Facebook group called car seat safety UK which i 100% recommened. I was clueless and went with the recommended budget baby carrier to start as most big seats from birth are quite unsafe for a newborn xx

@Corin ah ok amazing thank you will have a look now! X

The Joie is only rear facing until approx 4yo, at which point you'd have to either forward face or get a new seat if you want to continue rear facing. We've got the joie ispin safe which is Swedish Plus Tested and rear facing from birth until approx 4yo, then we'll be getting an extended rear facing seat like the Axkid Minikid. The Ickle Bubba is the same in that it only rear faces until approx 4yo. Rear facing for as long as possible is recommended as the safest position for a baby and child. It's not a spinning seat, but the Avionaut Sky is an extended rear facing seat suitable from birth to approx 6yo and is a slightly more budget friendly option. The Axkid One is also newborn until approx 7yo but is fairly pricey.

@Millie I would recommend bump to booster Facebook page, really helpful xxx

I would stay away from car seat safety UK, a much nicer group is bump to booster Out of those seat I would choose Joie 100%, but there are no seats that are age rated, they're all weight/height based so ignore the ages. You need to know what centiles your child is on the predict when they'll hit the weight or height limit. For my 91st centile boy he would outgrow the rear facing limit in these seats before he was 3.

I also like the car seat UK group and have used them in the past for recommendations. For my next child I’ll be getting the Cybex cloud T or G for newborn then using an Axkid Movekid when that’s outgrown. Unfortunately I opted for a Joie seat that doesn’t even allow the newborn insert to be removed so my son has now outgrown his seat at 5.5 months rather than 12m like it advertised 🫠
