Nappies and formula

What’s everyone going for ? I’m hoping to breast feed, unsure if exclusive or combi with formula.. What formula are people thinking to use? Also what nappies have you been buying?? And what sizes 🙃 So far we only have got pampers.. and they’ve been gifted to us by friends/family.. Is anyone else using different?

This will be my second. My biggest tip re. nappies is don't bulk buy, ever! Different brands fit slightly differently and your baby's shape will change over time too. At one point Sainsbury's own brand were the best and Pampers leaked. Then Aldi were good but Lidl leaked. Now we're in Asda and they've lasted a long time. Never commit to one brand! As for formula, if you're breastfeeding I'd wait and see if that goes well before buying anything. You can usually buy it on the same day if you find you need it. If you do choose to go down that route, research formula supply issues and again don't commit to one brand because some babies only take one type after they get used to it, and sometimes manufacturers and supermarkets run out so mums are stuck. Hope that's helped!

@Rachel thanks ! Yeah I’d see that about nappies , it seems to continually change c

We have always used pampers we never really tried anything else 😅 and we used Kendamil last time, going to try to feed ( if I can, I couldn’t last time) if it doesn’t work out will try baby on the new kendamil (some people say it’s changed since moving factories) ☺️

My family always used aptamil and only really used the ‘pampers ‘ company for the nappies. Oh and i would recommend using MAM bottles :) x

I’d recommend going to your local supermarket and seeing what formulas are readily available. All infant formulas by law must essentially be of the same composition of ingredients and nutritional value. We used kendamil until recently because they changed their processing and basically it caused explosive poops for my little boy 😂

Would also consider price in formula if wanting to go down that route in terms of which ones to try first, some brands are £20+, I used sma little steps which was only £9 a tin when I swapped to formula after breastfeeding. When you’re buying multiple tins a week it reaaaallly adds up. Wait to buy a pump too in case you end up not breastfeeding or have supply issues/over supply as you might decide a hakka or hand pump is enough/hate breastfeeding! Like formula it is something you can buy on the day if needed. Agree with nappy brands too!! All trial and error to see what fits your baby best

@Louise yeah I looked earlier and can’t believe Kenamill is £20+ in some shops !?

@Steph sounds about right 😬 definitely something to think about, like someone said before they all basically contain the same stuff so doesn’t make a huge amount of difference

Oh also, follow on milk is a scam!! Fyi.

SMA little step formula and little angels nappies x

Not expecting, but for my last baby I BF and used cloth diapers and cloth wipes so I was always stocked and didn’t need to keep buying, plus it kept in all blowouts I didn’t clean up even one. He was a very cheap baby 😂 he had no set weekly/monthly expenses besides what I wanted to buy him on a whim or clothes needed sizing up.
