Mine does the same and because of my anxiety it’s still within I’m the raised bracket. I’ve done 2 weeks of at home readings and everyone reads normal and good and as soon as I go in it’s raised. So they are now introducing monitoring ect and I don’t know how else I can say I’m ok.
Yeah I'm the same but they put me on BP meds because it was always high which has made a massive difference. I monitor at home, always have and it's normal but they won't take my at home readings annoyingly! I know some health boards do though! They should do a max of 3 readings for BP if it's high. Always make sure you take deep breaths as it makes a huge difference!
I do my blood pressure twice a day at home every day, and it’s always normal and they tell me to only take my tablet if it’s raised or high. So I haven’t taken it yet. It only ever goes up in hospital. No they ask me to log it but never look at my log so I feel like it’s pointless. It just gets frustrating when you know it’s ok and you know why it goes up but it’s like they don’t believe you
Yep and like @Jayne as soon as they do that first reading it’s too high and I have to tell them to do it 15 mins later again when it’s come down. It was horrible on my first pregnancy as during labour it was so high and I was like I’m absolutely fine albeit labour had started but had to then be monitored on the machine the entire time. Hoping it isn’t the case this time round.
If is so hard, I panic every time the machine goes off with panic that it won’t have gone down which makes it go back up again. Was hoping CBT therapy might help but so far no luck!
Yeah so I started by only taking if it was high, which it never was at home but obviously it spiked in hospital (Dr advised to take every day regardless but I didn't listen 😅) - when I started taking the meds regardless of what my reading was saying, my home readings stayed similar but my hospital reading went down so I'm guessing the meds they've given me just help to stabilise when it's high (I'm on 3 x 100mg Labetalol a day). I completely understand the frustration, I really do! Especially because you know it's normal for you! They told me that it's to cover their backs just incase it is something else other than high BP. Obviously I'm no doctor so can't advise you take your tablets everyday regardless, but it's really helped my hospital/doctor readings so may be worth speaking to them about it? It doesn't harm baby. I had midwife today and it was the lowest it's ever been at the medical setting to the point it was actually in the "normal" readings!
I’ll see what they say for sure! It would be worth the stress and anxiety of it all for sure! Thank you :) I’m glad it’s really helped yourself. They gave me labetatlol 200mg x
Definitely worth speaking about it to them especially with it causing extra stress and anxiety for each appointment which will be getting more regular now and not help BP levels! I hope you get it sorted as I do understand how you are feeling!🤞🏻x
I fear this alot because they always strap you to a BP machine as soon as they have you walk up a hall. Because of this my midwife tests me twice. I’ve never had an issue with blood pressure so no reason for a dramatically higher reading other than white coat syndrome. Ask the practitioner/nurse/midwife to take a second reading shortly after the first once you have settled into the appointment.
