Work

Hi everyone I returned to work a few months ago and I’m finding it hard. I genuinely really enjoy my job but the hours are long. I work 8:30-5:30 5-6 days a week and it’s a 30 min drive to work. From time to time I have to start at 7:30 or finish at 9pm. I also work most weekends. I work at an outdoor activity centre and it’s such a fun fulfilling job but I miss my daughter so much. She is 11 months old and I feel like we get no family days together anymore. I don’t have many qualifications so I can’t really do much for work. I could probably get a shop or housekeeping job or something. I know I wouldn’t enjoy doing this work but I could potentially spend more time with my family.

Honestly, you would be surprised by what jobs you can get with no qualifications, just apply for anything! Is there no way you can have set shifts at work so you can get into a routine? I currently do 3 long days 8-6 and then 2 8-12 so it's not so hard.

Wow that is long hours! Have you considered agency a work. I’ve been in two roles via an agency many years ago (whilst looking for something more perm and suitable) and found it really flexible and well paid x

I used to do this job, I changed to work with young people in care 5 years ago, the hours are still long (I'm at their house 0930am and finish at 10am the next day, if no drama can sleep midnight till 7am) But means I get my full time hours out the way in 2 days. Also working in an outdoor centre was pretty transferable to working with young people in care as you'll have plenty of experience working with all ages
