So if you get monthly pay it should be monthly
@Eide I usually receive monthly payments
@Sophia so it should be monthly then, I’m getting paid weekly so mine is weekly
90% for the first 6 weeks and monthly unless you get paid differently x
You’ll get your first month 90% on your usual pay day Then the following month will be paid 2 weeks 90% 2 weeks standard smp in the next pay as a whole amount x
You can request a maternity pay breakdown from HR/Payroll so you know what to expect each month. Some months I would get 4 weeks pay, others I would get 5. They said it depends on how many Sundays fell in the pay period xx
Is standard smp same as maternity allowance?
If you get paid monthly, it will vary with there being more than 4 weeks in a month, so allow for that in your workings… plus deductions too
@Jay money wise it’s usually the same but it’s paid in a different way and will effect benefits differently xx
@Jay smp is 184 per week or 90% of your pay whichever is lower
@Jay unfortunately not. SMA does not have the 90% for forst 6 weeks and it is considered as earnings for other benefits such as UC..So it's fully deducted. The weekly rate and term are otherwise the same.
@Terri that’s great thanks. Do you know if you get taxed on maternity? Slightly worried as it’s literally £740 a month 🫣😅
@Terri oh god really! Yeah I feel like that’s so unfair, surely for that amount it’s not much tax a month?!
As an accountant, the way I am calculating it and it’s working for me is you are paid £26.29 a day (£184.03/7), then 26.29 x however many days inbetween each pay packet, the 4 weeks ones (28 days) come to £736.12, baring in mind this is your gross pay so depending on what you earnt year to date, will depend on the tax you are paying etc.
It depends on your work wages
