Lead test

My baby had her blood tested for lead at the pediatrician office. The result was 3.4 and doctor suggested we recheck her blood levels again. Should I be worried?

Lead? Or iron? I've never heard of them doing a lead test.

A lead test is typically done because it can have lasting detrimental effects

@Ashley they often do lead tests at 1 it’s become more common and if you live in a home built before 1975 and haven’t repainted it’s most likely lead based,

@Ashley they test both at the 1 year check up

My daughters lead level was 4.1 so it’s “high” but not to high.. so they did blood work by her arm this time.. my doctor wants her levels at or below 3.4 so I would say 3.4 is fine!! My doctor isn’t concerned with her having 4.1 right now.. it’s not like a MAJOR issue, just has to be addressed.

@Ashley my 1 year old just got tested for iron and lead levels. I’m in CA

Should I be concerned my 1 year old don’t get any tests done at his 1yr appt? He just got 4 shots and that was basically it

@Jackie do you live in a house built before 1975? or does you child go to a daycare that’s old? if not then you don’t need to test for lead

@Angie no to both! And okay thank you!!
