I’d be tempted to suggest an all stage car seat like a joie every stage. They go from birth to 12 years old
My mil just got a Grace slim fit. It’s not what I’d want my girl in everyday, but it’s fine for the occasional trip, plus my mil has a Yaris so needed a compact seat. My little girl will be rear facing in this as long as possible though. I think whatever you go for, just make sure you’re on the same page from the start on car/car seat rules. She doesn’t have a pushchair for her, but then she’s 20 months so not needed as much.
Deffo not a Doona! Depending on your budget tbh and how often she’d be using it I’d go for an Axkid
We have Graco Turn2me in our cars x
@Lorna just so you know, this isn’t a compact seat🫣x
Thanks everyone this is really useful! I’ll have a look at all of your suggestions and send them on; you’re definitely right about the car and car seat rules @Lorna, that will for sure be part of the conversation 💕
@Kiera I think by the time she’s using it a next stage or longer term seat makes the most sense? If she had to drive him now we would just use our infant carrier x
@Kiera just assumed it was as it fits in the back of the Yaris fine! Maybe as we have a Besafe stretch it looks smaller 😂
@Jess graco slimfit R129 then but it’s quite bulky x
@Lorna oh god yeah it is compact compared to the stretch🥲🤪
I love my evenflo revolve. It doesn’t work with a travel system unfortunately but I have ehlers danlos and lifting with twisting a heavy baby will put me at risk for getting hurt.
@Susan-Lynn this is a uk page, we don’t have them car seats here x
@Kiera oh darn I didn’t even notice. I do like some of the options in the uk versus what we have here
@Susan-Lynn we have so much more good choice, some awful ones though🥲x

Definitely not the Doona, my daughter is currently in this car seat, it’s heavy to lift with my daughter in it. I would suggest looking into a convertible car seat, your MIL would get more use out of it.
Anything but a doona tbh😅 Would you like a next stage seat or an infant carrier?xx
