@Georgina that's what I thought! She asked if we are using one and I said yes and she kinda sighed and said "you know that dummies can impact language development right?" And I'm like yeah but he's 13 days old so I don't think it's going to have any impact right now 🙄
Language development my 14 month old says plenty already and has a dummy it was actually a nurse in the hospital who gave it to her and said about the SIDs thing I’m glad she did too as I was going to try not but she’s the most chilled kid too and has honestly made my life a lot easier. My newborn won’t take one as much as I keep trying to get her to 😅
If babies don't suck a dummy they tend to suck their thumbs which is worse. So I'd just ignore her, she sounds like a right pain!
Just ignore her! Mine judges me with formula and because I take antidepressants. Luckily you hardly have to see or speak to them so they can gf😁xxx
Tell her to come meet my 3.5 year old who had a dummy and talks for England I’d be reporting her for those comments x
They can be really awful some of them! I had a lady come over and pointing out every little fault she could! When she left I felt like such a bad mum ☹️ silly things like how I held the bottle, the type of blanket I had on her! Ugh
My 2 year old still has a dummy and is a complete chatter box 😂 ignore her! I wish my 5 week old would take a dummy as I’m his dummy at the moment which is rather difficult!
Report her and ask for a new one I had one that was scared of dogs and told me I should rehome my dog now I have a baby and when I cried at the idea of that because my first born fur baby is the bestest boy and loves his little brother yes I am that dog mum she reported me to the 111 crisis team Let’s just say her manager wasn’t impressed New ones lush
@Julia that's awful! Glad you reported her.. I have two dogs and if my HV said anything like that to me, I'd have knocked her out 😂 I love my fur babies!
@Georgina a friend of mine had a HV tell her to bottle feed her baby water for constipation Her baby is fully breast fed by pumping and bottle that’s a big no She did it for a week because you trust them right Mentioned it to a doctor he didn’t even finish the appointment before reporting her
My health visitor is a big advocate for use of dummies. I told her that a midwife pretty much told me off for using it and she said a lot of post natal professionals are stuck in the old way. The HV said use it! She’s a hv and neonatal nurse so I feel confident in taking her advice
Mine felt judgemental too!
Mine was awful too! She asked me to sum up my relationship with my husband in one word 🤷♀️ and asked if all my children have the same Dad as there's a 10 year gap between my new one and his brother. When I mentioned we'd lost a son in between she cried and asked me how that had happened. Was very uncomfortable!
Oh goodness I can’t wait to meet mine Monday 😅 she’s going to think my life is a shit show as I’ve split from my husband and moved in with my parents 🫣

@Siobhan you might get a good one 🤞
How shitty! Dummies are supposedly meant to help prevent SIDs. So I don't know why she's got a bee in her bonnet.
