Just got a positive test

I know that this test is positive, but I feel so shocked like this is the first month we were trying and I seem to have conceived a lot quicker than expected. I almost feel like it's going to get snatched away because I was 2 days late for my period and I jokingly told my husband "must be pregnant!!" And took a cheap test. And it was positive... so we went out and got a clear blue... I think we conceived about 2 weeks ago. I guess my question now is because we were so quick at conceiving, how on earth do I make sure i don't miscarry? I'm super stressed and unprepared.

Congratulations! 💜 Miscarriage is largely out of your hands. If you’re not drinking or using drugs, doing something very unsafe for work etc (all the really obvious stuff that’s not safe for a pregnant woman), then you’re already doing all you can. Early pregnancy loss is almost always down to a chromosomal defect in the growing fetus, and nothing you do or don’t do would have any impact. But you’re also statistically way more likely to end up with a healthy baby in your arms soon, than you are to experience a loss. My almost instantaneous conception (came off the pill, going to be quite casual about trying, pregnant before I even got a period) that I felt was going to be to good to be true, is almost 4yo. And, nobody is ever really prepared. 😂

Congrats! 🎉 I don’t really think there is much you can do to prevent miscarriages as it’s usually an abnormality with the fetus. I know it’s an anxious time but just try to take each day as it comes!

Thank you ladies, appreciate this so much

@Kim I did one yesterday too ‘positive’ and it happened so quickly it’s quite shocking. I came off the mini pill 6 weeks ago. I think it happened straight away. I didn’t even have a period. Congratulations!! 🥳 Hope it works for both of us! Tbh I won’t be reassured until I see that 12 week scan. I have a wedding to go to in between to ‘pretend’ to drink at. 🤣

Congratulations! I had exactly the same experience- got pregnant first month of trying and was so shocked 😅 now nearly 22 weeks! I downloaded the Ovia app which gave me little breakdowns of the baby’s progress daily, which I found comforting in those uncertain early days 😊

Congratulations!

@Sarah haha!! Yes i do too, I'll be taking some squeezy apple juice Squash and doing the tik tok fake alcohol cocktails with lemonade I think! Congrats to you too!

@Alex congrats! And hope you're enjoying your pregnancy journey!

Folic acid supplement is important to prevent neural tube defects like spina bifida, the NHS website tells you what to take and who needs higher doses. That’s not a miscarriage related thing it’s just healthy pregnancy advice. Congratulations! X

@Anonymous thank you!! I went mad with the research and got some of these thankfully! X
