Depends on your work place policy I believe. My employer you have to be employed for a year in order to qualify. Therefore first I had to have from government however this pregnancy I qualify.
Agree with Hollie - have a look at your contract or policy for your work place some have different criterias re: maternity i.e you need to be with them for a certain amount of time to claim a specific amount of pay etc.
Since being off from last March I have just now started back at a new work place it is a 0 hour contract , I did read in the work place policey that I will get maternity but can’t Remeber what the criteria was I’ll have to have a look.
Happened exactly same to my partner a little bit different obviously you didn't give birth but they refused him the payment and then fired him a month afterwards because of the time that he had off but new that I was giving birth and that I was at high risk and told him to have the time off
There's criteria re: working to claim SMP from the government - have to have worked X amount of weeks by X weeks of pregnancy. It will say on the gov website, and if you're not eligible, you can apply for maternity allowance (main difference is you don't get the 90% of earnings for the first 6 weeks, just the amount you'd get normally on SMP)
Did you go back to work in between? If so then you’ll be able to claim maternity allowance again but you probably won’t be eligible for smp from your job
