I feel like I’m the same boat as you and won’t pursue further testing. I just wanted some reassurance and maybe more information other than Dr. Google 😂😂😂. Thank you so much
Yeah we definitely didn’t want to do amniocentesis since there is some slight risk and it didn’t feel necessary. And then I confirmed with our pediatrician that knowing whether or not he has it doesn’t change anything in the sense that we don’t need that information in order to make any medical decisions for him or anything. Basically if he has it he has it but it’s of no consequence to any other potential medical issues if that makes sense. I actually had the thought that maybe my husband has it lol just because he’s taller than the rest of his family (but not like a foot taller or anything). Although it’s not an inherited thing I don’t believe, just one of those random things that happens sometimes.
I don’t know for sure whether or not my 3 year old has this but when we did NIPT testing it came up as a possibility. We never did diagnostic testing to be sure. It’s something that like 75% of people who have it would never even know. From what my doctor explained at the time there really aren’t any “major” issues that are associated with it. He said “maybe” our son would have a higher chance of ADHD or autism - can’t say for sure about ADHD yet I guess but as far as I can tell he’s neurotypical and really smart (not that you can’t be smart if you have adhd or autism, obviously). And that he would likely be tall. He is - but I’m 5’9” and dad is 6’1” and my brothers are 6’2” lol. You can talk to a genetic counselor if you want more actual scientific info! And if you wanted to confirm one way or the other it’s my understanding you’d have to do an amnio while pregnant or a blood test for baby after birth.
