Movements

How are people coping with anxiety around babies health during pregnancy. I’m 21+5 and the last couple of days I was starting to feel baby but today nothing and now I’m worried. I swear usually if I press around my stomach I can feel babies heartbeat or them moving or something but I can’t even feel that now

if in doubt, always get it checked out ❤️

I don’t know how it’s not really worthy of an A&E visit and my midwife doesn’t reply to me

you should have a triage which will check you out whenever you or baby isn’t 100% or doesn’t feel 100%. reduced movements are absolutely a reason to go into hospital, trust your gut

I am 26+5 and had slight spotting last night with reduced movement during his usual active time. I called my local maternity unit’s triage number and they asked me to come straight in. They checked babies heart beat, movements and a doctor even did a cervical exam - all ok but gave me reassurance. They also said any further concerns about reduced movement to call them. That is what they are there for 💕

I am definitely in the same boat here! I am 24+3 and this past week felt like I was feeling reduced movement. I called MAU and went in and they checked heartbeat which was all ok. I’m glad I can feel reassured if I need to call, but I am feeling anxiety on and off about this. But I’ve felt him move over each day over the past 4 days now so hopefully noticing him more!

I have preeclampsia and so my baby girl is very small. I’m 30 weeks and still don’t have consistent movement - some days she will move a lot and strongly and other days I will hardly feel her at all. It can definitely be hard sometimes because I don’t have a pattern so it’s difficult for me to tell if something is “wrong”. Whenever I’ve gone in for reduced movements she’s always been fine. I try to not get anxious as long as I’ve felt her at some points throughout the day, even if that’s just in the morning and then in the evening. If you are ever worried the midwives would always rather you go in to get checked. In my experience they have always been so lovely and have never made me feel bad or silly for worrying. Once a midwife even told me that should’ve called them sooner! Your hospital will have some sort of pregnancy assessment unit that you can ring and come in for triaging.

Have a sugary fizzy drink and see if that makes a difference if not head to A&E

@petal they say not to worry before 24 weeks though as they won’t have a pattern yet and are still quite small plus every time I go to the hospital I’ve had a minimum 6 hour wait so I want that to be last resort really. Thank you though x

Thank you everyone, I might call triage and see what they say but I’m hoping I’m just being silly as I’ve only started to feel baby this week anyway and they’ve told me before not to worry too much until 24 weeks xxx

i definitely get what you mean. have you tried drinking Coca Cola or cold water? sometimes that will help your baby move.

@petal going to try that now! To be fair I normally feel him more at night so 🤞 xxxxx

I think I can feel faint baby movements now 🤞

im so glad for you. i think if he moves more at night definitely monitor him at night when he usually moves, and maybe drink some more cold water too. if you don’t feel his movements at night i would still suggest you go to triage just to be safe. Xx

It’s so hard because it’s only a few times a day at the moment anyway like it’s not a crazy amount of movement and it’s only just started this week so it’s not like I have much to go off yet. Stressed 😂
