Retained placenta

Hello! I have had non stop issues postpartum and no help from doctors wondering if anyone had experience with this? I have bleeding for about a month and this past week it’s been so much it seems like hemorrhaging. Now I have severe pain and feel so sick I went to er last night and everything checked out normal. I have also had bumps like an allergic reaction spread on my body. I have had all the symptoms of a retained placenta I’m worried about infection I’m 5 weeks pp and not sure how to check if someone made a mistake I already had a ultrasound at the er they said everything looks normal but I feel something’s definitely not right Anyone else go through this? What did you do?

Retained placenta is extremely dangerous and you generally you wouldn’t last this long. Go to your OB or back to the ER and advocate for yourself. How often are you changing pads?

I second that it is extremely dangerous. However I had it and it wasn’t diagnosed until 7 weeks PP. I’m thankful nothing bad happened to me in that time as I had honestly no idea. Did the ER do a transvaginal US? That is how mine was found, not through an external one over my uterus. Keep advocating for yourself if it feels off because you can die from it. I don’t want to scare you but it’s dangerous:( I had to have mine surgically removed

Thank you @@Brielle I will ask for that!

I am just bed resting @Brielle was your bleeding from it consistent or on and off? Was it hemorrhaging or just a little?

Hope you’re doing better! I had retained placenta. For me , I had a suspicion since the ob that delivered my baby was so sketchy after I had asked her if she left any placenta in me. I noticed mine about 1 week postpartum. My symptoms were just a disgusting smell when I would use the bathroom and more bleeding than usual. I went to the hospital due to a 102 fever and ended up getting a D&C. I can’t say this enough, ADVOCATE for yourself ! Hard truth is that they don’t care about us postpartum.
