Sudden anxiety around birth

I’m coming up for 35 weeks and so far have been really relaxed, however as I get closer to my due date, my anxiety around giving birth seems to be getting worse. Has anyone else experienced this? I’m starting to question whether a c section would be better given my anxiety, but I’m hugely put off by the recovery of it. Everyone seems to have an opinion about how I am and what I should do but basically looking for some reassurance and suggestions. I’ve listened to every book, podcast etc. I’ve attended NCT classes. It’s only been in the last week or so this has all become overwhelming!

i feel like it’s because you realise it’s getting closer, i didn’t have anxiety i completely oppositely thought it would be a breeze and while i did it unmedicated and the birth went quickly i wish id have worked on my breathing it’s the best tool you’ll use to get you through the contractions, im sure if you mention to your midwife your concerns they’ll have support available as well but i cannot stress enough for you to practice breathing techniques and mindfulness, you can do it!! no matter what once that baby is in your arms you will forget everything in that moment nothing else matters ☺️

It's completely normal to feel that way. I had the worst anxiety around that time with my son. Especially since he was a very lazy baby. I ended up having to go to emerg a few time due to him not moving. What really helped me was my mum coming and helping with cleaning and food prep. We made enough food to last three months for days my husband was at work. We have a bigger freezer this time so hoping for more food

I would highly recommend the positive birth company for some solid reassurance and hypnobirthing techniques. The online course isn’t expensive. I’ve listened to just the audio over and over and I think it’s changed the way I see and was fearing birth. More oxytocin, less adrenaline seems key. Might help or be worth a shot anyway.

So normal. Try some hypnobirthing tracks 🩷🩷
