I had this with my first baby. I started on the Monday morning - contractions all day, stopped overnight. Same on Tuesday. Same on Wednesday but went to bed that night and then woke at 1am as my waters had broken. Active labour was then very quick. Talking to my midwife yesterday she said a long early/latent labour often means a shorter active labour. Just try and take it easy and rest as much as possible during this early stage in case it lasts a couple of days x
Could be slow labour. Maybe your body giving you a good night sleep was what it thought you needed and things will start up again today? It all sounds really promising, so fingers crossed. Try and get out for a walk (it’s a pretty nice day for it!) and anything else you can that gets things moving along… at least your parents are there now so you won’t have a panic moment if things suddenly progress quickly. Keeping everything crossed for you!
Thank you everyone. That's made me feel more at ease and like I'm not over reacting @Gaby they only have the kids until Thursday so hopefully things get moving before then
Yeah don’t exhaust yourself but some walks, maybe try colostrum harvesting, relaxing bath… get on all that and it might happen 🤞🏻
Im having the exact same thing, just been for a walk so hoping that will get things going as I had a couple of mild contractions again on the walk. It's so frustrating isn't it 🙈 Hoping it going to mean a shorter active labour though
Try rest and get thay oxytocin flowing, doesn't sound like it will be long. Nice food, drinks, music, have a pamper, walk and relax xx
@Laine that’s what they say!! 🍀
My waters have gone now, so I guess it's time!
@Laine good luck ❤️
Feel like I'm in your exact situation! I was so sure it would kick off last night, then went to bed and everything settled. So frustrating as I'm in pain much of the day/evening so needed to rest. I'm due baby no 3 on the 3rd, I can't see continuing like this for the next week, surely something has to kick off!
@Harriet it's frustrating isn't it. I've got the back ache and stomach tightness/ cramps which come in waves every 10 mins or so but nothing I can't sleep through. It's seems to get more intense on an evening but I go to bed and wake up still pregnant and not having full on contractions.
@Laine ah amazing that walk worked. I have no change unfortunately, will try all the normal techniques again
@Katie oh no! I was thinking about you with it being Thursday and hoping the silence was because baby had come. How frustrating!!
Hope you ladies are all well. Just wanted to say if your still in the same boat the slow start definitely made for a quick active labour. From my waters breaking and active labour starting to birth was 5.5 hours only. Super quick our bodies really are incredible!

@Laine congrats!! Hope you and baby are both doing ok xxx I’m still hanging in there. My last labour was only six hours so I’m hoping after a few days of on and off contractions now that this next one will be done in an even flashier flash!! 🤣 but you know, not so quick I don’t make it to hospital 🙈
We are both doing really well thank you. Am I crazy for wanting to do it all over again, what a magical experience , she is just perfect. I'm sure it will be, good luck, you've got this!
Ah amazing. I'm still waiting, had my second sweep on Friday and baby was in a lovely position but still nothing. Really hoping he makes an appearance soon, I'm on edge every night
@Laine ha, you’re asking the wrong person. I’d have a whole bunch more if I had the money 🤣🤣 Glad it all went your way xx
@Katie ahhhh was wondering how you were doing!! Sorry to hear you’re still waiting. No contractions or anything anymore?
@Gaby just cramps and back ache, my midwife described it as slow/ early labour as each time she seems me I am dilating more and more. Hopefully he will just slide out when things get going. I'm not due until Friday so need to keep reminding myself of that
I'm sure it will be this week then, make the most of relaxing before they arrive 🥰
@Katie meh, due dates don’t mean anything really do they. But I’m riding the exact same wave with you! Soooooooon 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻
I had bit of this with my first and started up again same time the following day then spent that day having baby.
