I changed to an elective section 2 days before I had the section! I was due to be induced due to my blood pressure and was on the fence about a section, then I had a growth scan and baby was measuring really big, that’s when I decided I wanted a section. They initially had said they’d have to do it as a cat 3 section as too late to book in so they would bring me in and I would be on stand by for a C-section but it might not happen that day but due to the baby being big, they asked if I would be willing to transfer my care to another hospital which I was and I was booked in for a planned C-section there. They have to respect how you want to deliver your baby so don’t worry, I was also anxious I would be refused, they will maybe try and talk you into considering other options first but ultimately, if that’s what you want, they will accommodate. Good luck! Xx
They tend to section at 39 weeks. I’d just call up and say you want an elective and go from there. Your birth experience. Your choice.
I could have wrote this myself 🩷 I changed my mind from home birth to csection and 38 weeks for the exact same reasons. Although they said it was unusual and therefore a bit harder to arrange, I was still supported through the process and had a section at 39+5. For me it was the best decision I ever made x
Please don’t worry (easier said than done!). Call the midwife on Monday and explain how you are feeling and that the sweep didn’t work. They will support your decision - providing you don’t go into labour this weekend. They probably expect it anyway. Feel free to message if you want to chat! Good luck x
