Too much water?

I was giving my four month old a bath, and I had the water too high and almost at her shoulders, but she was laying in her own tub that’s tilted inside ours, so her chest and front of her shoulders were exposed. As I’m cleaning her neck I turn away from her face for a second and I realize she’s been licking some of the water that’s next to her. How do I know she’s ingested too much water before it’s too late? Can she ingest too much water from a bath? Should I just take her to the ER? Kind of freaking out and unsure of what to do

I would take her in to be safe

my 4 month old tries to drink the bath water every time. literally just gave her a bath 5 mins ago and i was fighting for my life trying to prevent her from eating the soap off her hands, eating the soap off my hands, licking the bath water... i think you only turned away for a second she should be totally fine. If you're worried call her pediatrician and see what their recommendation is 🩷

If you're worried it doesn't hurt to take her in, I wash my babies gums with a wet washcloth in the shower and she sucks the water off of that sometimes and she'll lick the water off of her hands

I wouldn’t be too concerned if it was for a very short amount of time. When my son was just short of 3 months old the doctor told me it was safe for him to have 1 oz of water a day (in the case of constipation) so I think just the very little she may have had won’t mess with her

Thank you all so much. This eased my first time momma brain so much 💜

Probably fine, only happened for a short time, but always okay to take in if concerned or you could always call posion control 24/7 line and ask them. They are great if needed.
