Son fell off bed

My son rolled off the bed today. I am devastated. Our bed is probably just over half a metre high. The bedside drawer was open, but I don’t believe he hit it on the way down otherwise he would be much worse off. But I do think he went to lift his head up and donked it in the bedside drawer. So he has a red line on his face. He didn’t cry for long at all. But babies heads are so fragile, should I take him to see someone? It’s just a red line so far, it hasn’t bruised and there isn’t a lump. This happened about 3 hours ago. It was above his eyebrow area so there’s skull there rather than a soft spot. He hasn’t fed properly since is happened BUT he is also in the midst of his teeth coming through his gum so feeding is abit hard for him anyway. What would you do? Would you take him to get checked on just incase? Or just mind him and see how he goes? I’ve cried so much over the guilt of it already and cancelled my plans today cos I just feel terrible

I think he’ll be fine if he seems normal. How old is he?

For future I would definitely take this as a learning lesson. Put him on the ground if you have to go away since he’s now rolling. Or have a hand on him at all times. Maybe even blankets or stuff under sheets so he can’t roll off. My daughter as she got older fell off of literally everything just cuz she’s a little daredevil. You just got to watch them and if they act different then usual I’d take them in.

He’s okay love my baby has fell off the bed two times In her life I think it hurt and upset me more than it did her. Don’t beat urself up about it even tho I was freaking out aswell but she turned out to be okay she had a little mark on her head from the carpet but that’s it. If he wasn’t okay u would be able to tell just fine him sum cuddles and some good baba he will be alright. As for the feeding it’s probably just teething making him not want to eat. My baby was 10 months when she fell off I’m not sure how old ur baby is but maybe if he’s old enough give him a popsicle or something cold for his mouth.

It happens to the best of us. I used to sleep with my son in bed with me but once he starting rolling I moved him to his own crib. I miss it but it’s not worth his safety. I would take him in to be seen.

All they told me when I took my son in was that he needed to be monitored for 2 hours. Seeing as how it has been 3 hours now for your little one, I’d assume he’s okay. Some questions they’d ask would be: did he immediately cry or did he lose consciousness for a moment? Did he vomit? Are his eyes dilating like normal? Is he behaving as he normally would? Is he overly tired, and are you having trouble waking him up? I’m sure he’s okay. It really does happen to almost every parent at least once. If you are still worried, take him in just to be sure.

I'm glad he is ok. I would check him into the doctor to be on the safe side.

@Gabrielle he’s 6 months. And I never ever leave him unattended. Unfortunately I wasn’t the person watching over him when this happened, otherwise it definitely wouldn’t have happened. He did land on pillows which is good, but not good enough

He’s had a nap and woke up fine. He’s been fine the entire time it’s just such a big drop from the bed to the floor and then the open drawers freaked me out. It could’ve been so much worse than it was. I wasn’t the one who had him i never ever leave him unattended cos I know how quick he is. He is 6 months old. He’s happy laughing and playing as per usual and it’s been like 5 or so hours so he’s ok xx
