I got really bad nausea if I didn’t eat within an hour of waking up so I did find it difficult but it was manageable, I’d recommend you take a book and/or headphones to distract yourself during the wait / bloods x
I had mine last week and was so worried about not eating before my blood test. I just told them I'm prone to fainting and they let me lie down for my blood tests. I didn't actually feel faint or unwell at all just starving by the end
You’re going to be drinking a sugary drink, so that replaces the fizzy drink you’d normally take. You can drink water as normal beforehand, the more hydrated you are the easier it will be to get blood out of you, I drank an entire litre of water on my way to the hospital for this exact reason I personally found the drink really filling so I didn’t feel hungry or sick during the 2 hour wait. Take snacks for afterwards to eat before you drive home
I had bread to keep it down
@Emely you’re not allowed to eat before or during.
@N 💞 but for somebody who can’t keep liquids down, I don’t think a piece of bread would hurt plus I passed mine so it didn’t really matter too much
@Emely it literally invalidates the test, so yes it does hurt.
@N 💞 I have a sugary drink whilst having blood test throughout the time they take blood to stop me feeling faint which I can’t do. Hopefully all goes okay😅x
If you’re this prone to fainting and being sick due to no food then you can ask for daily finger prick testing instead of the fasting blood glucose testing. Speak to your midwife if you can.
