What wash can I use?

I suffered a 2nd degree tear in labour and was wondering what soap I can use to wash down there and how long I need to wait to use soap? Xx

I was told not to put any products directly down there (only water), but when showering it’s ok for the shower gel bubbles from washing my upper body to drip down there if that makes sense. I used normal shower gel but you could use a PH balanced one eg fem fresh if you wanted to be cautious! They didn’t give me a time frame but I started using product directly down there at about 3 weeks postpartum as I could see my stitches were healed x

I had the same and was told no product just water xx

Wouldn’t recommend using any products down there, just clean down there with water and I also used non fragrance baby wipes after going to the toilet to pat dry as I found this not as irritable as toilet roll, spritz for bits also worked wonders and would highly recommend to any mama postpartum

I stress about being dirty and smelly

I recommend also using a perineal bottle to rinse yourself after going to the toilet, then dabbing dry with toilet roll. Means that everything is washed away and helps you to feel cleaner. But the constant bleeding may make you feel a bit smelly, even if you had just had a shower! Thats how it was for me anyway. Just be sure to change your pad regularly. Thats if you have constant bleeding obviously everyone recovers differently!

They recommend just water, I had a 2nd degree tear and have started using femfresh again now as I'm 3 weeks post partum and feel mostly healed x

@Izzy femfresh is okay after 3 weeks? I was told just water but wasn’t sure for how long I’m almost 2 week pp I also had 2 grazes that they stitched

My midwife has checked my stitches and they've all dissolved so I felt comfortable going back to using my normal products x
