I feel like the worst mum

My LG is 16 weeks and I constantly have her hands covered thinking I’m keeping them warm. She is forever sucking her hands and they are wet through all the time so I’ve been putting mittens over her sleepsuit mittens to prevent it soaking through to her hands as they are always absolutely FREEZING. Now I realise why she isn’t reaching for things as she’s not been able to explore with them😢 she also has a flat spot on the back of her head no matter how hard I try she always lies on the same side and prefers to look the same directions during the day 😢😢😢😢 She’s been referred to physio but I’m just looking for advice on here or words of encouragement as I feel terrible.

Babies circulatory system isn’t fully developed yet so their hands and feet tend to feel colder than ours as adults. Also the sucking of the hands is completely normal, it’s a way of developing and exploring their body. My little girls started doing this and I remember my son doing it at a similar age. With the flat spot, again don’t worry! Speak to your doctor about it but babies tend to favour one side to rest on, it all evens out eventually. My eldest had a massive bald patch where he preferred to rest 😂 over the next few days do lots of tummy time, keep the mitts off and try not worry. If you’re still concerned give your HV a call or if they have a drop in service I found them really helpful. There is no guide on how to do this, remember you’re doing an amazing job xx

I had a similar problem with looking the same way and flat spot. I put her upside down in the crib (if that makes sense) and pushed her head once she was in a deep sleep. We went to an osteo as she had a lot of tension. They recommended holding her in opposite arms, tummy time, when walking holding her bottom and 1 arm on the chest (so in a seated position) that way she could look up and be curious of looking round. It's taken us 5 sessions! It'll all pass soon definitely, just some little tweaks! X

My little one favoured the left hand side, we took her to a cranial osteopath and they sorted it within 2 sessions. I'd highly recommend seeing one to help with the one side tension x

My littles ones hands are always cold too, I keep them covered at night but not during the day. I think it's something to do with lack of circulation
