Entertaining baby

I'm really struggling to keep my almost 5 month old happy he has so much energy and wants constant attention but doesn't want to play with his toys, does anyone know how I can keep him entertained? It's getting to the point that we are both just crying having a break down constantly

So I'm lucky that I have a toddler who helps keep him entertained but do you have a tummy time water mat? My first lovedddd his andit kept him entertained for ages. When times are tough and nothing is working I stick on hey bear sensory and pop him in his bouncer. He's happy, I'm happy and I can have 10 mins with just my toddler. It has to be a certain one though he cries at the rest or 8 little planets by super simple 😂 found anything what flashes or makes loads of noises helps too. So we all have a dance and sing to Spotify in the evening as that's the worst time for us

My son is like this during wake windows and it’s hard trying to get things done around the house so I take him around the house with me while I do things and we sing of listen to music (for as long as he’ll tolerate) I know he wants a nap when he gets fed up and cranky. It’ll get easier 🩷

Getting out with my almost 5 month old really helps, whether that’s a walk, going to the shops, meeting up with other mums/family etc. I make sure we get out at least once a day and that seems to settle her (it helps that she almost always naps in her pram too!)

I agree getting out is the best entertainment. Doesn’t have to be classes/ cost money - park walks, supermarket, pet shops, garden centres, library etc

@Chloe thankyou I will have a look at getting a water mat x

@Rebecca thankyou it's nice to know I'm not the only one struggling x

@Lucy thankyou for the advice, unfortunately I have bad anxiety and even going in the garden is difficult and I don't have anyone near me

@Leonie thankyou x

@Lily I think it’s super common at this stage, my son is 4.5 months old and there are days I can’t leave the room without him fussing. Little Velcro babies. I can also relate to the not wanting to go out some days, it’s hard but we’ll get there x

Totally understand where you're coming from my little one has velcro syndrome and constantly wants to be entertained when awake

@Lily I was exactly the same before seeking help and I feel so much better. I promise it gets easier 💖

I was thinking my baby was so cranky as she was crying after a minute of any activity or if left along to just play on her mat. She walked to the park and I sat on a bench reading a book with her on my lap - she loved it, for 30mins just was looking around touching my pages and just generally content. With the nice weather maybe try just changing environment for a bit, after that she seemed more settled as well
