Hey working mamas!

How long are you planning to wait before you go back to work? What kind of schedules have you set up or thought about for your little one when you return? Are you going back part-time? This has been on my mind a lot lately. Personally, I plan to return when I settle into a routine. Mentally and spiritually.

As of now my mine is 8 weeks fully out of work and then the next 4 weeks I’ll work from home doing my sessions telehealth and then be back in work after that.

My husband and I have been saving up so I can take as much time as I want without it killing us financially. So far I plan on taking my full 12 weeks for FMLA (unpaid, only getting paid through PTO hours) and an extra 4 weeks. My husband gets 14 weeks paid parental leave😫

@Emily woah, 14 weeks paid paternity leave is incredible!

I just learned that my husband may get up to 12 weeks paid leave through Colorado’s FAMLI program. (Only 3 weeks are offered through work policies.) I’m taking the standard 12 weeks, and my company, fortunately, offers full pay for that period. 🙏 I’ll freely admit, I’m conflicted when it comes to his paternity leave. Obviously it’s his choice how much time to take off, but we are both pretty career-driven, so the idea of us BOTH being off for 12 weeks stresses me out a little. 😅 (We work at the same company and our roles overlap and will impact the same team.) Anyone else conflicted about taking time off? Or is it just me being too… American? XD

@Abigail I think you meant to respond to @Andrea ! I don’t get paid, and neither does my hubby :( I’ve been paying into short term disability to get a little something but won’t be much

@Abigail my hubby can take up to 12 weeks off and I’m slightly stressed about it. He’s an athletic trainer for a high school and since it’ll be during football season which is the schools busiest season and he usually gets overtime each week it’s when he makes the most. But he also hates the work environment and the coaches (he works for the local hospital but they treat him like he works for them) so I know he needs the break but I’m stressed thinking about the money loss lol

I’m starting a new job next week and won’t qualify for any leave since I also don’t have state residency, so I’ll have to be a model employee for the next 4 months and hope they let me take time off unpaid 🤷🏻‍♀️

My company does not provide paid maternity leave and I don’t think my husband does either, though I’m still unsure about that. We are setting aside each of my paychecks, along with any left over from his once bills are paid to help any financial strain once baby arrives. Personally, I am not in a rush to get back to the office but I will transition into a part-time role once my husband and I feel like we’re at a good place. God provides everything and I know I can count of him financially. That’s where I need to keep my mind when any doubt arises. We will all be provided for!! 😊🤍

Fully paid 12 week maternity leave and I’m saving up my PTO to take additional 4 weeks after that. This will land me almost in December when work is a bit slower. Hopefully, it will be a smooth transition back. @Abigail I wouldn’t worry about work being impacted in a negative way. If you can transfer your responsibilities up front and ensure the team has access to all the information they need, it should be fine. We are all replaceable at work but cannot be replaced at home during this time. Besides that, as a new mom, you’ll need the time to recover and get back to work healthy.

@Emily I just learned from my employer that their policy allows fathers to take paternity leave broken up if they want. For me it’s a consecutive 12 weeks, but for his 3 weeks, he could do a week on, a week off, etc. As long as he uses it within a year. So, for anyone looking at paternity leave, definitely ask about that! If he gets CO’s potential 12-week leave and can still break it up, that would help us a lot. :)

@Abigail He wants to take the whole thing consecutively. His boss has already tried to say they’ve never had a male employee take the full time off. But he has no desire to be at work lol We live in GA.

8w off, 16w part time. This is baby 2 and we have a nanny already

I'm planning on taking 8-10 weeks off - I'm conflicted about how much time to take because while my work is wonderfully flexible, my pay is spread out throughout the year depending on how many days I work - so if I work less, I get paid less all year. Once my leave is over, my husband will take his 3 month paid paternity leave (I know - it's crazy!).
