Bath time

My 9 week old likes to have a bath but once we take her out she cries so much and really unsettles herself. Any tips on how to make the post-bath experience better for her and me?! Currently we are doing bottle, wait 30 mins, bath her, change and bed.

I bath my 9 week old before his bottle, I get him out and make sure we’re in a warm room and we always have a baby massage after brush his hair and then he has his bottle 🥰 she may just be a bit cold, I find the bottle after the bath helps a lot with settling them x

Thank you! Is he awake for a while before the bath or do you do it just after a nap? X

@Naomi he’s awake for 30/45 mins before we do a bath, I like to do tummy/play time before hand as it tires him out c

My girl is now 3 months old, it was like that at first, now she is ok as long as I don't take too long after the bath to dress her ,I put music and sing to her too.. Massage with coconut oil as well and feedbher after the bath too

maybe my little girls a pampered princess 🤣 but we always warm her clean clothes and towel and blanket, could it be abit of a shock in the temperature change for your little one? x

My little girl was the same, I now warm her clothes and towel on the radiator first, and then swaddle her tight in her towel straight after and it helps x

My baby is also 9 weeks old and literally expressing the same thing! She was great with bath time up until the last couple weeks, where she would cry frantically, worse than when she got her shots, just after the bath! But during it, she’s a dream - she loves bath time! So the two things we did is 1. Change in a warm room and I mean warm, like bath warm - don’t let her feel the temp difference. So we basically get her dressed in the bathroom as the doors closed the water was running so it’s still quite hot! And we wrap her I. A thick blanket when we exit - she hates being cold is what we realized! We also give her a pacifier once we are getting ready to take her out and two days ago was the first time she didn’t cry after bath time! Hope that helps xx

Another vote for warm room here! We had an emotional bath time and I decided I never wanted it to be like that again as she was near inconsolable. So last night, I moved her changing mat on the bathroom floor and got her changed in there post-bath. A much happier experience all round!

My second born absolutely loves baths and is great getting out but my first born loved baths but hated getting out of the bath so I used to use a hair dryer on warm setting on her and she loved it. I think it was because of the warmth and because of the noise. It’s something you could try if you’re comfortable with it. I also do bottle after bath because I got told baby’s get hungry after a bath because their body’s are working hard to keep warm. X

My little girl did this and it really put us off bathing her because it was such a rush to get her dressed ect , we just made sure she was wrapped in a big warm towels and gave hers cuddles so she was calm and dry s bit before dressing , it is a stage , my daughter is now almost 3 months and she doesn’t cry going in or out the bath now :) x
