I don’t. Simple as that lol. It’s not my job to entertain. We have supervised activities like painting and coloring and dance party, we have outings like walks or errands, and we clean or cook together. But other than that, she has toys she plays by herself or her older brother. And when it was just my son, he played by himself.
@Tattiana social media is so hard because it gives me community but also makes me feel like a failure 🥲
I feel this too, and then if I do screen time I feel like a bad parent also. It’s hard being a toddler parent especially in the winter months
@Ashlyn the problem is that my daughter attends daycare full-time so she gets constant entertainment there, but our house is boring and she doesn't adjust well. I'm not sure how to handle it. We've never been ones to always play with her, but she's getting to be grumpier about it.
That’s tricky. I’d start small to get her adjusted to entertaining herself and being okay with boredom. Play for 10 minutes, then transition to something you need to do for 20 minutes and let her whine about it 😅 she’ll be grumpy but will adjust over time. Like right now we’re waiting for her brother’s ballet class to finish and I brought no toys. She’s just bopping around the waiting room reorganizing the books, running up and down the ramp, etc
Sensory bins! My daughter plays in specifically the rice one for hours! Last night two hours on the back porch then two hours again at baseball
I’m making play dough today to add to the bin, we also have Pom poms
@Candice did you make your own? I don't even know where to start!
I bought a kinetic sensory bin on Amazon, it was $15! Then I made the play dough and rice at home! It’s super easy! The colored rice is a 5lb bag of rice, separate into three gallon size bags, squirt about thirty drops of food coloring and about 3 tablespoons of water and shake the bags. Once the rice is coated lay it out to dry on a cookie sheet. For play dough I’ll post the recipe picture below. Then we just use cups, bowls, spoons, animals and any other toys inside of the sensory bin, she is big on scooping and putting things into cups.
@Candice thank you!
@Candice beautiful handwriting :)
I also want to know. Sometimes social media makes me feel like I’m failing with all this as well like I’m not doing enough. To paint with my child every day is a lot lol
