Birth

Has anyone else got bad health anxiety the closer they’re getting to their due date? I’m seeing things on social media and I end up looking into it worrying myself of what could go wrong for either of us 🫣

Yes i had 0 worries about mine u till I started seeing all these scary posts and its really freaked me out xx

The best advice I was given was don’t watch/listen to any negative birth stories. Be aware of the different types of birth there are and that’s all you need to know. The majority of my friends have all had really positive easy births. You’ll only hear the worst/negative birth stories on social media. If you search positive birth stories only and only listen to them it will help! Stay positive, you’ve got this x

I had to block so many keywords on tik tok because of all these horror stories. The more i started staying off social the more i started to feel less anxious. Research and also discuss birthing options with your midwife x

I had such a positive first birth experience. The truth is, it is one of those things where you don’t know how it will play out until it’s done. Hypnobirthing gave me best mindset to have going into labour & I honestly think it helped me stay calm & relaxed throughout. We were in and out of hospital in about 8 hours - didn’t even have to pay for parking 🤣 it’s not always horror and trauma!

I had quite a lot of different complications during my previous two births and honestly I cannot wait to do it again. It’s such a cliche but there is no other experience like it in the world. It’s silly to say don’t worry but just do whatever you can to feel as good as possible about labour/birth. There’s no way to predict what will happen but you will be surrounded by people who’ve done this thousands of times between them and prepared for basically everything. Try and reframe your thinking to all the things your excited for once babies physically here and what your excited to do once your not pregnant again, it sounds stupid but write a list of all the things you want to do with baby and hopefully that’ll calm your anxiety for at least a while x

I had two traumatic births because of the midwifes, this time that isn't happening as I'm in touch with the maternity psychologist who will make sure I don't get any shitty midwifes and I'm not treated like that again, highly recommended if your anxious they can flag up your notes so midwifes are aware of your worries/ what has not to happen and you can birth in a birthing suite in the hospital (if available) where its slightly separate with calming music/ lights ambiance etc, I'm 30 weeks now and honestly bricking it incase a midwife messes up again and I'm in that state where I don't have much control

Yh 🙋🏾‍♀️

@Ellie wow so sorry you had to go through that!, I hope everything goes smoothly for you this time round, such a shame hearing stuff about midwives when they’re the ones who are supposed to give you the most reassurance and help!! Xx

@Amy thank you so much, I know exactly! Xx

My advice is to stop watching or clicking on those videos/ links on social media. The algorithm will just keep showing you more. Instead search for “the positive birth company” download their digital pack and inhale all of their advice. Practical real life hypnobirthing advice and so many positive and uplifting stories
