I wrote one but didn’t use it. It all happened very quickly for me. I think I wrote it a month before. I wanted water birth but ended up going in to hospital already fully dilated and not even having time for pain relief :( x
I did one with my midwife at my 32 week app. None of it happened though
Write one as soon as you're happy to. My midwife only asked me about it at about 34 weeks. Was far too slow for me, I wanted to feel prepared 'just in case' 😂 also you're better to call it birth preferences than birth plan as things change last minute sometimes and you want to stay relaxed x
I never had one and I’ve had two births. Went in very open minded, used the birthing pool first time x
Wow everyone’s had different experiences bless! Yeah it’s my first time so idk what to expect, I found that gas and air helped me last time as I was screaming but unfortunately my baby didn’t make it. Thing is I have a stitch in and that’s getting removed at 36 weeks and so idk how quick or slow baby will come so I wanna be prepared like I want to hopefully start packing stuff for hospital at 30 weeks and use my birthing ball, gas and air, birthing comb, pain killers if need be etc
I’m so sorry your first born didn’t make it, I hope all goes well for you and your baby arrives safely! I sat down with my husband and wrote up birth preferences at 36 weeks - still need to print it out though 🤦🏻♀️ I don’t think there’s such thing as doing it too early, although you might change your mind on certain things!
I always knew what I wanted. Last pregnancy ended in an emergency C-section but this one I want a natural unmedicated birth. (I've had one before.)
Thank you so much everyone, that’s really helpful. I am open for things to go differently in case I need an alternative but hoping everything goes to plan xx
I did mine with my midwife. She gave me a link to start thinking about how I would answer each section then at next appointment she typed it all up so it would be in my hospital notes.
I'm 28 weeks tomorrow too! I had my first baby last year and my birth plan flew out the window. It's never to early to write it but be prepared for things to possibly go differently then expected
I wrote 3 separate birth plans. I was planning a home birth (didn't happen) but wrote one for a hospital birth and a c section just in case. I did it at 30 weeks and my water broke at 33 weeks. So I would recommend doing it earlier rather than later. And my midwives stuck to it almost entirely! So despite not having the birth I planned for...it was still a positive experience.
I done mine on labour ward with all 3 of my children x
Thank you ladies 💖
Did mine at about 36 weeks but in reality I always had an idea of what I wanted; wrote mine to protect the energy / vibe of the birth (quiet, calm etc) rather than any hard and fast rules - was really lucky as, despite having an emergency section, my plan was still followed and respected x
