Pregnancy hair

Does anyone understand why your hair changes during pregnancy? I want to keep my hair like this after pregnancy! It's so thick and long, and not greasy at all! Pre pregnancy hair had to be washed every other day cos of the grease...honestly now I could go over a week before washing!

Its down to hormones x

Ahh I remember that feeling! I loved my hair during pregnancy. It stayed like that until around 3 months pp and then it started falling out (that eased around 6 months) and it started needing washing every other day and still does now at 8 months pp 😞

Hormones. Sadly it doesn’t stay stay that way!

So, normally (when you’re not pregnant) about 85–90% of hair is in a growing phase (anagen) and around 10–15% is in a resting/shedding phase (telogen). When you’re pregnant, increased oestrogen means that the 10-15% stops falling out. Hormonal changes can also make your scalp feel oilier or dryer. After birth, as hormone levels drop, all that hair that was “held back” from shedding enters the telogen phase at the same time, causing a noticeable shedding around 2-4 months postpartum - this is known as telogen effluvium. Unfortunately there’s not really much you can do about (but it does normally resolve around 6-12 months). Enjoy your lovely thick hair while you can!

I recommend sticking to once or twice a week once baby is here as your hair will have adjusted and will adjust to the new routine 🥰

Love it while you have it! Postpartum hair for me has sucked. Falls out, super oily, and feels like 💩 I chopped it off first time and holding onto it this time
