For my first pregnancy I waited until after my dating scan just to ensure all was well. This time round (no 2) I decided to tell them much earlier as I was really struggling with fatigue and nausea and stress from the job making it all worse to cope with so there was a health component to consider.
I told work last Friday as I’ve had HG and really struggling. Felt bad as I’ve only just gone back from maternity leave but it is what it is, I’m 9.5 weeks
I told my work around 10 weeks as I have been suffering with sickness and migraines a lot, I knew it would be easier for them to understand if I needed to take time off
Thanks all for your insights 😊I’ve been lucky to feel well enough to not have to amend anything. I’ve been conscious to tell my manager as my colleague has been off due to their mental health for the last 2 months and my boss and I been rallying together to make sure everything is covered so, I thought saying this to her will send her into a bad place as she’s been reliant on me a lot (she’s been picking up a lot and very grateful for me) and now my colleague is coming back in a week, so I think I’ll wait for the dating scan and make sure that goes well to let her know 😊
I told my boss as soon as I found out I was pregnant as there's one aspect of my job that isn't safe for a pregnant person to do, this was also the case in my first pregnancy. I've had HG so him knowing has been helpful too. I'm 14 weeks now and started telling others at work last week
I think a lot depends on your job and when you will need extra support or to declare for health and safety. So you may want to tell sooner to get your job altered
