How would you feel? (Pushy OB?)

So I’m kinda in between of what I should feel, this is my 4th baby, I’m a diabetic who started treatment around 6 weeks of pregnancy. I’ve been following every suggestion as far as insulin, diet and appointment. NO doctor has been able to control my suger since then. They baby is actually growing fine and there hasn’t been any sign of alert other then contractions which I’ve been getting since 25 weeks, since before being put in the stress test, and now I have to be seen twice a week at 32 weeks which is ok, but I get sent to the hospital every single time only to be sent back home after being at the hospital 3 hours and told I’m ok. I’m really FED UP. I have 3 other kids who need me and I kinda enjoy being home. I got the flu this week and it hit me badddd so I decided for myself I needed complete rest and my family supported. I canceled my appointments with them and I feel like the whole office is being extra pushy and is giving me bad anxiety. Like bad anxiety 😥 I’m only trying to do what my body and my intuition tells me to do, I’ve always led by that, but I don’t know if I’m wrong in feeling their being to extreme and pushy.

Does baby seem fine? Are they moving around just fine? Growth has been just fine? I know you mentioned you have GD but has baby had any indication that anything is wrong with them? Why are you being sent to the hospital at your appointments?

@Valerie Yeah everything is fine surprisingly! Movement great, a little above percentile with growth but nothing alarming. Heart is doing great. As soon as I’m get in the stress test thing I get send to the hospital. All they do at the hospital is put me on the stress test and then send me home again. ☹️

I would say follow your intuition. The best advice I’ve received from a midwife is that hospitals tend to be pushy and overprotective bc of liability. They have to document that they tried & attempted all avenues to prevent a Worst Case Scenario. Procedures they take may not be necessary for your specific case, but it’s always needed for their documentation.

I’m 33 weeks and my baby is small, she has a growth restriction, I also have hypertension. I go to the hospital for stress tests once a week, I also go to the OB for ultrasounds weekly and sometimes they send me to the hospital after that. I end up going to the hospital 2-3 times a week until delivery and I have a scheduled C-Section. Thankfully, every time I go everything has been fine. All I can say is that, you feel fine until you are not and that can happen unexpectedly from one day to the next as it happened to me with my first and I had to have an emergency C-Section in one of those hospital runs for a stress test. I didn’t even had a chance to bring my hospital bags or anything. Yes it is annoying but doctors know why they do what they do and it’s best to be safe than sorry. Reach out to your village for help with your kids and emotional support as well. You will get through it ❤️

I’m so glad everything has been going well! 🙌🏼🤍 If I were in your specific situation, I would ask them very very specific questions if I ever felt they were being “pushy.” I can share with you an acronym I learned in a hypnobirthing course: B - what are the benefits of this recommendation? R - what are the risks of this recommendation? A - what are the alternatives to this recommendation? What are my other options? I - what does my intuition say? (This one you ask yourself). N - what happens if I say no? And decline this recommendation? My husband and I would use this often during my last birth. For every cervical check, etc.

@Valerie I love this!! I’ll be taking a hypnobirthing class in two weeks!
