My son isn't allowed too much tv time or many shows but he LOVEESSS bluey. I was thinking of doing a bluey birthday for him but would it be weird since he's a boy and she's a girl??

we did a bluey bday party for my son and he LOVED it 😊

My daughter just had a miles morales/spin birthday! I don’t see an issue it’s just a popular kids show

I meant to say yes it’s fine lol. My daughter leans more towards Mickey Mouse than Minnie Mouse & she had a Mickey Mouse birthday 🤷‍♀️

He's turning 2. I love bluey the problem is the only time I see it as a party theme is for a little girls birthday 😭😭 so imma have to improvise some of these decorations to make it more of a boy theme 💙🙏🏾 i think imma try tho. Besides color block and number blocks or curious george. These the only shows he likes 🤣

@MK THOSE ARE PERFECT THANK YU LET ME GO LOOK OK AMAZON 💙😩🙏🏾

@Jasmine I misread your post 🤦🏻‍♀️ lol

You can always decorate with stuff that reference the show! So red balloons like the uppy game, ducks or make a duck cake like the movie, little purple glasses like when they dress like grandma, a cardboard car, stuff like that

Its totally fine! A lot of little girls like Paw Patrol and have Paw Patrol parties and 5 of the 6 dogs are boys in that show.

@Jasmine Check Amazon! Thats where we get our kids birthday decor!

That’s funny because most of the toddler room makeovers for little boys are bluey themed. Didn’t know there was a gender bias with it.

It’s for all kids. It has nothing to do with gender. And bluey isn’t specifically for girls. Most people actually assume she’s a boy. He’ll love it! I threw one for my daughter and ask the kids loved it. We even did a musical statues comp

My sons birthday is next month and he loves bluey so we’re doing bluey for him, the bluey stuff is so big at least where we live, we’re getting the decorations and having more blue because we’re doing blue and orange everything, I think it’s fine but my mother always reminds me that bluey is a girl but In my opinion it doesn’t matter because why limit children and tell them they can’t like something because it’s for the opposite gender, bluey is my sons favorite show and I think what really matters is your child’s happy with their birthday. Also I felt crazy when I learned bluey was a girl I thought bluey was a boy for a while 😭

Same. Kids are kids.

I hate to be the barrier of bad news but I wouldn’t do it. Bluey was created to not introduce gender roles hence why she is blue so many people assumed she was a boy until it was later revealed she wasn’t. I get it he is only 2 - kids will be kids but when he gets older and you talk about it his second birthday and discover he loved bluey that was a girl.. would he be ok with that? Would you be ok with that? If that answer is yes then so be it, I just believe in order to raise boys to men we should as parents remain introducing boy stuff to boys and vise versa for girls, it’s different today because of the were not implementing that dynamic unfortunately. my nephew loved the snowman from frozen.. also very popular but that didn’t imply to have a frozen birthday party but alter it because he is a boy.

@Queen He will still grow up to be a man. Just because he likes Bluey, that’s not going to change anything. My daughter is very girly & loves dinosaurs & Paw Patrol & cars. She’s still a girl.

@Katie my niece is the same way. She likes a lot of stuff that should be for boys. She likes cars, dinosaurs, pokemon cards, yet she’s still girly and loves Barbie’s and unicorns.

@Katie exactly! My brother (4) loves bluey, paw patrol, dinosaurs, digging, toy guns. Watching a dog who does gender neutral games with her dad, sister, and friends isn’t going to make them grow up and want to be a girl

@Queen so any man who watched blue's clues should be ashamed because blue is a girl? This kind of thinking is exactly why women get denigrated by men.

@Queen Not even mad at that. That's typically how I am and how I feel about raising with gendered thing. For me it will generally be boy stuff is for boys and girls stuff is for girls. But bluey really seems like it's trying to be gender neutral even tho its a girl as the lead character That's why I have been struggling with the idea 😭 but I also want him to love his birthday and go crazy when he sees his cake and decorations. I imagine he would be okay with it if it was like a one off thing that happened. But I wouldn't ever do no frozen or other princess theme or something like that just cuz he liked it. Yu can like muai but yu definitely arr not having a Moana birthday 😅

@Queen Lol

@Jasmine that was definitely the creator’s intent. To not have to worry about anything and just to enjoy it for the whole family. It just so happened they decided to make both girls. But I promise, he’ll love it.

@Queen lol how many moms dressed their boys in blues clues? If your son grows up and is mad about a character birthday for something they loved at the time just cuz they find out it was the opposite gender that is just a little wild to me. Bluey isn’t meant for boys or girls it’s for kids in general. My daughter loves hot wheels, Dino’s, Spiderman, monster trucks, Pokémon etc and I don’t tell her “no that’s for boys”. She knows she’s a girl and still loves dresses and pink

@MK exactly. I was about to say this bc my nephew loved him some blues clues. Imagine taking something from a baby bc "That's for boys or girls" wild times. I grew up with dinosaurs and sports cars. Yet I'm still a woman, so like??? 😅

Literally the same. I grew up surrounded by boys and boy things. Yes I can keep up with them but I love the girlish of things. I love the nails, the heels, skirts, dresses, all of it. Make up everyday use to be my life before the kids.

@Keisha I was a teenage mutant ninja turtles girl and loved hockey. I'm still extremely feminine 🤷🏼‍♀️ the logic doesn't really logic.

@Queen I somewhat agree. I don’t think Bluey as a birthday party theme would be too bad but my cousin dressed her son up as Bluey for his 1st birthday. I just find it weird because he’ll one day ask what he was for his 1st Halloween and she’ll be telling him it was a female character. I mean he was so little, there’s no way he even understood what he was dressed up as at the time. I think it’s fine for boys to like “girl” things and for girls to like “boy” things but as a parent, I don’t know if I’d encourage big celebrations or costumes that embrace it unless my child is old enough to share their genuine love for it. My best friend (since we were 3 yrs old) is gay and his mom threw him a Cinderella birthday party for his 6th birthday just because he’d wear the “blue dress” when we played dress up. He’s embarrassed to talk about it to this day. I currently have a girl and a boy on the way and maybe my mind will change as they grow up but as of now, I totally understand what you mean.

I was wondering the same thing for my sons first birthday coming up 🤷🏼‍♀️

Boys can like characters that are girls and girls can like characters that are boys. I really don’t get any issue with this.

My little boy loves Bluey and dances along to the theme tune. Really doesn’t matter if the lead is a girl. Goodness I used to watch Thomas the tank engine loads when I was little he was definitely a boy in fact most of the shows I watched were heavily male. It really doesn’t matter 🤷‍♀️ Also how many people care about what they liked when they are 2?

My boys 1st Birthday was Bluey!🩵

@Queen this is ridiculous, the show isn't “girly” in any way and just because the lead character is a girl it doesn't mean your sons future manhood is going to be compromised. I loved Mighty Max, Dragonball Z and Power Rangers as a little girl and I’m just fine 😂 Just let kids enjoy the things that bring them joy. They won’t be seeing a therapist when they're older because they had a party at 2 where the theme was around a female dog that no one even realised was female for a couple of years (and many still don’t).

This is so crazy to me I have pics dressed up as simba for Halloween and never have I thought to be upset because it’s a boy.. yall, these are fictional animal characters 💀 it really doesn’t matter, if a kid likes something and wants to have that theme or costume or whatever and you stop them because they aren’t the same gender that’s WILD and your kid might just grow up to be upset by it because it’s clear they’d be growing up with strong gender stereotypes forced on them to begin with that will shape them to be insecure about something so insignificant. If you don’t do that weird extra stuff you have nothing to worry about lol

Sorry what difference does it make if it's a boy or a girl... it's literally a dog😭🤣 some of these comments are mad

My son doesn't watch much TV either but looooves bluey! Definitely should throw him a bluey birthday! I bought my son a lot of bluey clothes too. It's a great show 💙

Not weird at all. If you’re comfortable with it, I say go for it.

@Portia heck, I STILL love DBZ lol.

Bluey is an awesome cartoon for every child to enjoy. Whether they're a boy or girl makes no difference, in my opinion. I'm using Bluey Easter Hunt signs and bunny footprints for Easter for my little boy. Bluey is even great for adults. It can be very funny and you can often relate to it too so go for it!!!! Yay Bluey!!! And Happy Birthday to your little boy!! ❤️

My son is 3yrs8months and for his 3rd birthday we did a bluey themed birthday party for him ! He absolutely loved it and loves watching Bluey and still talks about his bluey cake he had 🤣🤣
