Heya, I had this with my first pregnancy. There's a slightly increased risk of having a smaller baby at birth but that's not always the case. Many women have normal or even large babies at birth with no issues. For me, I developed pre-eclampsia at 28 weeks but it was all managed and I delivered a healthy baby girl. She was born underweight, but she put this on very quickly and had no other issues. I wouldn't worry about it as this doesn't happen to most women with low Papp a. It's just something they keep monitoring just in case. You might get extra scans, which is always nice to see baby more often. Having it does not mean your baby is at risk of downs or Edwards but babies with downs and Edwards almost always have low Papp a. That's why they're checked together. The low dose aspirin helps prevent pre-eclampsia so you should be absolutely fine. Just telling you because I had no idea about this and didn't get aspirin until my blood pressure was already too high.
I didn't deliver at 28 weeks btw she was born almost full term. Realise that may have read wrong. Happy to talk if you want to
I can’t give reassurance, but I was told the same thing last week. It was left as a voicemail for me and I was a bit confused and freaked out, I asked on another forum about it and didn’t get any response so it is comforting to see it’s not just me 🤍 I’ve been prescribed the aspirin and advised to take a vitamin D supplement, and told they will do third trimester growth scans. Googling it is scary but I did manage to speak with a midwife yesterday who did reassure me a bit that it’s not very unusual, and it doesn’t mean there will be any complications- but as it has been present in pregnancies with small babies, early babies, and pre-eclampsia it triggers them to monitor more closely. The aspirin she said is to try to improve blood flow. I can’t tell you it’ll all be okay, because I can’t tell myself that right now either, but I’m trying my best not to worry and I really hope everything is all ok with you too. Feel free to message me if you ever want to talk xx
I’m in the same boat, I’m 14 weeks and just found out that I have low PAPP-A I have been taking 150mg aspirin from 12 weeks onwards, they will check baby steps scan to see if the aspirin is helping, if it is then great! If not they will have to do more regular scans to see baby from what I understand! Try not to worry yourself, that’s the last thing you want to do, everything will be okay x
