Possibly both. Small party and still book a vacation somewhere. I’d also maybe ask him if he wants a party, vacation or both? My oldest (5) will be 6 this year, I’m throwing him a party and also inviting his classmates (first time). In the future, if he wants a party or vacation, we will let him decide. If he wants both, we will figure something out.
I decided that we’re going to do an experience of some sort for birthdays now. I’m over putting in all the time, money, and work planning a party and the stress of running/managing the party and having people no show or never respond or just “forget” and there only being a few people there. I’d rather spend all that time and money and energy as a family doing something whether it’s a day at the aquarium or a movie or a vacation. My girls will be turning 4 and 2 this year. How old is your son turning? If he’s older I’d ask him what he’d rather do
I think it depends on if your son wants a party in class and if he is generally close with a handful of the students. If he wants one, I’d throw together something really small and budget friendly. Grocery store cupcakes and MAYBE some goodie bags if you feel like it. My vote is for the vacation, something that you and your family will truly enjoy. Friends come and go, but the memories that you make on vacation will last a lifetime.
If it’s his birthday, I would go with what he wants
I’d ask the child since it’s their birthday.
If it’s one or the other it’s a party. It’s his birthday doesn’t really matter what you want in my opinion
My daughter is 6 we have never done a party ever we always take her somewhere nice for the day x
At some point we’re going to do experiences for birthday and Christmas. We already vacation. But we did a party for baby’s first bday and it was really nice. Now if my kid is asking for a party, I wouldn’t book a vacation. The day is about him.
I let my son decide if he would like to go somewhere or do something with his friends. To me it’s his birthday why not let him celebrate it how he would like to.
Both? A vacation is completely separate. I might spend less on birthday presents depending on what the party is. Depending on the age it could just be 1 or 2 friends.
