Budget for birthday gift for daycare friend

Hey mamas, I'm not good with a budget, I tend to over or under spend on gifts for people I'm not close to. My toddler was invited to a classmate's (from daycare) birthday party. This will be the first Ill be meeting this classmate's parents. What's like an ideal budget for a gift? I got something that's around $30. Is that too less? Really confused, some advice would be great! Thanks!
