Baby gaviscon

When reaserching I found more negative than positive results with baby gaviscon so I wanted to post a positive experience for any mums hesitant themselves to try it. My baby was going through a horrendous spell after being almost a dream. Constantly crying not sleeping it was absolutely awful she just seemed to be so uncomfortable and in pain. We were prescribed baby gaviscon at 7 weeks and she’s back to her happy little self. Constipation is a massive factor when it comes to gaviscon but so far we haven’t experienced this. Her poop is more paste than water but on a positive it makes less likely to leak everywhere haha. I do only give her one dose in her morning bottle, one mid to late afternoon and her last feed at night. So she is having more none gaviscon bottles than ones with it and I feel for us so far it’s keeping her bowels moving but reliving the reflux for her. Hope this puts a little less stress on any mums who are desperate to help there baby but scared to as I was. 💜

Thanks for this! I haven’t read up on baby gaviscon yet but I have a feeling my babe might be struggling with reflux. Do you know how they would go about having the dose if breastfeeding?

My 2month old is on gaviscon and has stopped her throwing up all her milk and stopped her crying cause of her colic life saver I tried everything else before it and didn’t work at all

@Shannen if your breast feeding you mix it with a bit of expressed milk or water and give just before you feed

Don’t give them water and it can drown them just give them milk or rub it on there tongue

@Zoe can you mix it with expressed milk too? My girl isnt keen on the water powder mix.

@Julia I'm sure I've had patients who have mixed it with ebm it would only be like when you add it to formula

@Zoe i mean logically I dont see a reason why not. I just tried it in a bottle and it was a gamechanger. In a syringe with water forcing it in her mouth caused so much fighting, screaming and grief, with a little expressed milk in a bottle she just drank it without an issue.

@Julia oh I'm so glad it worked for you hope little one gets some relief
