Going back to work scheduling

Hi guys- I go back to work next month and on an agreed set day rota come June. My manager in June has already scheduled two work meetings / training days ((compulsory)) on days I’m not scheduled to work. I’ve already had an absolute mare with childcare and have been able to secure it for the three days a week I’d be working- however with these additional days, I’m now going to have to try sort childcare with not much notice. Can companies do this? Do I have a leg to stand on to ask if any meetings etc can be on my scheduled days? I know that sounds so entitled to everyone else working with me however I just cannot cover additional days outside of my agreed work pattern?

What does your contract say? If your contract says you work only Mondays-Wednesdays then you can push back and say there has been an oversight and I cannot work these days. If your contract says you’re expected to work other days ‘as required’ then it might be harder to argue. However, is it possible your manager has simply forgotten / been careless - it’s always worth talking to them about the situation before escalating it further.

Is there a flexible working contract you can look into? I’ve returned to work now and have done a flexible working which has amended my regular contractual hours and days to what I CAN do and attend

I wouldn’t attend them and ask them to reschedule. I used to work Monday to Friday. But now to Monday-Wednesday and all my meetings etc are scheduled for my working days. Maybe your manager forgot that your off two days

So I’m working Tuesday, Wednesdays and Fridays and my manager has scheduled both a team meeting and training day on two different Thursdays. I’ve emailed HR I’m hoping I’m not expected to go.
